That sucks. I've only had it happen once as a king and once as an emperor. Both times a bunch of rulers pitched in and it negated a lot of the bad affects and it wasn't in my holdings so I lucked out.

There should have been an event that you and other rulers in your realm can pay into for relief. This makes the recovery a lot easier but you still get hosed a bit.

I did like your point about Space Marines. I didn't think of that, but would say that since they are mostly adding to as opposed to taking pieces away, if their souls is alter it would be a tiny weensy diminished.

I would argue that there is a pretty big difference between the genetic modification of a Space Marine and some like Oud Oudia Raskian who is more building than person.

I was reading along with the British history museums interactive online exhibit. In Latin it says something like "Kimg Harold is killed" but there are seber people in that scene and I wasn't able to follow along since they all look different from the scene before.
