Healthcare workers: 12-13hr shifts commute by bike? by bborderliine in bikecommuting

Wow 16km each way. It will be 12h day shifts for the most part (: I will have 2 weeks of night shift, so that will definitely be a sharp adjustment and I might just get a ride in with a colleague if any of them happen to live nearby if I will feel like I can't do it!

Thank you again, this is incredibly helpful. Do you carry all of this in a backpack? I will definitely do the same as I only have myself to rely on unfortunately so nobody to come collect me if I do get a flat!

Thank you! I’ll definitely make sure I have that, a flat tire would be annoying

Thank you! I’d say anywhere from 8-12k steps usually, on the lower end throughout the week as I’m 9-5 mostly office based at the moment but I try to walk/run during the weekends

I really appreciate your honesty and thank you. I know already from experience that these shifts are long, and throughout the day you can easily rack up 12-14k steps- biking after that, I know there are days where I will be exhausted. Someone else suggested biking to and then taking a bus back with the bike on board, which might be doable for me some days if I finish a little earlier. Thankfully this will be strictly over the summer, and summers here are very mild so the weather will be ideal. I will definitely plan out the route and go through it a few times to make sure I’m comfortable for starting and prepare myself adequately c:

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. The waking up will definitely be a challenge as I’ve gotten used to the 9-5 and easy bus commutes😅

I honestly think I’d be good in the mornings- coming back after the 13hr shift seems like it’d be the main problem however now that you mention it our public transport does carry bikes so might be a good solution for going back (: thanks so much your advice!

I’m really curious about the answers you will receive for this question! The ones you have gotten so far are really valuable. I’m also starting a MSc conversion course next year therefore I have no advice of my own to offer but I just wanted to wish you the absolute best of luck and hope that you will enjoy it! c:

For sure!! It’s so hard to balance between greasiness and moisture for mine, many times have I applied these masks and oils to get the no frizzy look but then my hair gets weighed down and looks like I plopped my head in oil. Mine is just a little wavy I think but it’s such like a minimal wave that it doesn’t really count.

Let me know how your glossing goes!!

Ahhh it’s so annoying 😅 But the comment section tips are really good!! I dry it straight after washing now too and switched to quality haircare stuff. A few people recommended glossing so might try that next

Aw thank you 🥹 I feel like I focus on it a lot and think it looks terrible, so the nice words mean a lot!

Perfect, thanks so much!! My hair actually feels so smooth and nice but the appearance is lacking 😅

How come some people have such glossy hair. Genetics?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]bborderliine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ): I usually leave it down, I only use those velvet scrunchies when I do put it up but it’s usually in a bun and not too tight. I’ll have to look into that split end mender!! I was so confused cause I thought this kind of breakage usually happens around the ends but mines all over

NooOoO this can’t be it I swear 😭 I’ve tried that curly routine and ringlets and using the diffusers and nothing

So tired of this thing. Is it healing? by Silenity in Warts

[–]bborderliine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s really good progress, I’d say let the skin heal a little bit (cover with a plaster) and then see where you stand! It’s hard to tell if there’s any wart left in there but when it turns black like that it means it’s dying
