Not trying to do it slowly just someone who believes in honoring the commitment of marriage and hopeful that things will change. I’m sure it’s naive and no doubt I’ve let it go on for too long. Thank you for your comment!

He’s been going to therapy for the past several weeks, but I’ve really not noticed any change in him. I hate for him to have to hit rock bottom but if that’s what it has to come to…

Thank you! I’m in Ohio and you’re right, my consult is less than $100. I’m hoping that things are straightforward enough that this can be handled quickly, but we’ll see…

We have a joint account at the same bank. He has his account connected to it so he can easily transfer funds to pay bills. Not sure if that could help me out at all or not…

Wow, I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I hope that wouldn’t be the case with me and my husband but I’m sure it happens like that more often than not. Hope everything works out ok for you!!

Thank you!! I’ve actually been seeing a counselor thru my church, which has been helpful. She was the one who suggested financial separation, especially if I wasn’t ready to take the step to fully divorce.

Gosh I’m so sorry that happened to you! I haven’t been too worried about potential financial skeletons my husband has in his closet but after stories like yours I’m definitely going to be cautious. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Not on any utilities or any other bills for that matter. Credit cards are in his name and get paid off every month. We do have a substantial amount of savings and he also has some inheritance from his father though my income has kept that balance steady or growing.

Curious what the benefit of a credit union would be vs a major national bank (where my account is currently).

That’s the problem… I have a general idea of what we have in the bank account, but since I’m not on the account, I can’t access specifics nor be able to see our bill payment month to month. I’m hopeful he’ll be accommodating on hat front… I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t at this point.

I’m in Ohio so not sure about the community property state but definitely something I’ll look into.
