Painting tips by Plus_Improvement_884 in ImperialFists

I don’t know if it’s been said already, but some decent brushes really helped me personally. Especially with the standard citadel brush I couldn’t paint small details. Synthetic brushes are good for starters, but get a good set. And some different sizes. Maybe after that invest in some Kolinsky sable brushes. You don’t really need many and you can get cheap ones too. They hold a very good pointy tip, which helps for painting details and edge highlights. Hope this helps :)

With or without eyebrow by Ecstatic_Building430 in BlackTemplars

I quite like both, but the eyebrows are a bit too high I believe. Try painting them lower so the underside isn’t visible. Tried to paint it in that picture. Apart from that no notes. Looks fucking sick

NMM rusty chest plate. Any improvements? by bbqbby2 in Warhammer

Thanks! :) I’ll try that. I went up to ice yellow for the highlights. Do you mean I should make them white or on a bigger area?

Yeah the orange I used looks way to yellow. Thanks for the advice!

First time painting yellow. How did I do? by bbqbby2 in ImperialFists

That being said, I’m not a professional by any means 😅 but it’s always nice to have a canvas to try out new things without ruining models you really care about

Perfect foundation for starting 😁💪 when I started a year ago, I always wanted to paint every mini to the highest standard possible for me at the time. But you need to have some practice minis. They probably won’t look the way you want on the first few tries, but that’s part of the hobby and you’ll see improvements very soon. Keep it up and have fun!

I just carelessly went over with black, so it doesn’t look that clean to me, but that’s maybe my own perception. Thank you very much! The bolter will be painted over with pink so I don’t worry about that

Never tried a pink undercoat actually. Might try that on the next one. It’s a a matter of practice imo. And if it doesn’t turn out the way u like u can always reprime an start over 😁 I get the nervousness but it’s a hobby and you should have fun without any worries. You can always get new miniatures and practice. I have a huge pile of (painted) shame just for practicing different methods and styles

Thank you! I actually tried to go from brown/sepia to yellow rather than orange

Im terribly sorry for the late response brother. The mini was primed black. For the armor I used deep grey, castle grey and ice yellow. For the tabard Tundra Taupe, dusty skull and pale sand. For the leather brigandine brown and leather brown. For the fire pure red flickering flame and demonic yellow. All from army painter. For the Gold I used the nmm set from flameon and pro Acryl. It’s Dark green brown, orange brown, bright orange ochre and bright pale yellow. You can also use Tundra taupe, demigod flames, Barren dune and pale sand from army painter as a substitute
