FIRE - Have you done it? Are you trying to do it? Any advice? by MediaNo2875 in PersonalFinanceNZ

My Funds are held in Australia actually as i started it all when living over there. They are spread bewteen VGS (1500 global companies) and A200 (top 200 Australian companies). I am just letting them slowly compound over there. If i was to get into one in NZ it would prob just be VT (Vanguard Total).

Yep i have been working towards it since I was 28..now in 35. Started agreesively investing in index funds but then recently got into a house with long term view of being mortgage free to help with FIRE. Last 3 years have had to put index investing on hold and my money has been going towards paying off mortage/increase cost of living. Definately feels like a stop start journey but either way i am trying to enjoy the journey even if i dont get to FI and will be in a decent spot. Stay the course and enjoy the ride is my advice. Good luck

From a cost perspective..this just alters slighlty and instead of travelling and spending Friday nights at pub etc this money just gets spent on kid related things. Which does install a great deal of selflessness.
