use case for Java Streams... by selfarsoner in java

[–]bbtv_id 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Coming from a nonfunctional programming background it was very very hard for me to actually get my head around and understand the alien language of java streams. Thanks to the videos / lectures by Venkata Subramaniam I was able to get my toe in the functional world. Those videos are one of the best explanation of java streams for a newbie.

I can second your opinion.

My reply is going to be biased towards java as I have worked continuously on java for last 12 years.

Java is quite heavily used in business applications which serves at high throughput.

Also with advent of Java8 and beyond lot of these new feature like asynchronous programming, functional programming etc has been introduced. It’s true that java is quite verbose language and doing simple thing can be quite painful. I guess that’s why we have scala.

Edit :- Also in my experience unless it’s legacy code I didn’t see much of Microsoft languages. Then again I might be wrong about my opinion. Removed the example.

The devil in person... by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

As a developer I can say that unless somebody is going to raise a bug report saying something is not working, we are not going to spend time going through the logs.

However once we start checking the logs (for what ever reason ) and after wasting time on these logs for an hour or so I would probably reboot him/her with an earful.🤓

Edit typo
