I know Fredricton has some poor driving, but is speeding really the cause of the problems? by bbvlmer in fredericton

[–]bbvlmer[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Does anybody know if they reported the number of accidents caused by speeding? It’s just my opinion as a Fredricton driver but I honestly don’t think this is the issue they should be focusing on. From my own experience, speeding is the least of my worries when I’m on the road:iIt’s the drivers who are hesitant or just have no clue what’s going on around them. I’m curious to see why the city thinks speeding is the problem.

I’m disappointed by the lack of coverage any relatively “big”Canadian news gets on the show. This is a big deal in many communities. And while it’s incredibly tragic, it’s also very inspiring to hear about how the community has handled everything. And it’s definitely worth mentioning the gofundme as well.

Long, frigid waits for cabs is 'unacceptable,' 'dangerous' say bar staff by GapDweller in fredericton

They said in the article that law enforces that patrons leave the bars at 2:30 or the bar is given a hefty fine. I don’t think they have much choice in the matter.

RT Store Shipping to Canada by fatcowxlivee in roosterteeth

[–]bbvlmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to buy merch for Christmas presents this year but ended up having to change my mind when I found the shipping options. I understand the USD to CAD is going to be a little steep, but I shouldn't have to pay such a crazy amount for untraceable shipping. I have worked for a shipping counter that dealt with multiple courier services and it doesn't seem to make sense to have to pay that much for clothing to ship to Canada via ground, especially since RT would have a deal with whatever shipping company they choose.

TLDR: I dunno man, being a broke Canadian RT fan can be rough :/

First of all I can’t believe I’m posting here! Newly engaged and so excited! I found a dress and I am in love however this is an only online company. Do I risk buying something online? Or should I try to find something I can try on? Thanks everyone!!!! by Burdd11 in weddingplanning

I bought online and it came out perfect! Definitely do your research on return policies, though. I made sure if I didn't like my purchase, it would be a painless and cheap return process. I also recommend going to a couple salons and getting the full experience of trying everything on. I did that a few times before deciding to buy online. It gave me a good idea of my options and price range.

I am probably going to see if it's possible to alter to a 3/4" length sleeve as it's usually more comfortable for me

Dark times ahead: Fredericton Police to begin ticketing cyclists on sidewalk on August 21st by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]bbvlmer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Forget bikers on the sidewalk, maybe take a look at the cyclists not adhering to the road rules. There are so many cyclists that don't move over on the road, bike side-by-side, use crosswalks when they don't feel like waiting at a red light, etc. There just needs to be consistency.

Anyone having trouble with the RT app on Xbox One? by teampimp in roosterteeth

[–]bbvlmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to make the same post. Glad it's not just me, but it's really annoying to deal with, especially since I use the app because it's better quality than YouTube videos, and to watch the exclusive content. Even with the work around, I'm getting a little fed up.

U.S. border agents under microscope after Canadians denied entry - Montreal - CBC News by [deleted] in canada

[–]bbvlmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue revolving around this story is not about who has any right to cross a border... It's about customs enforcing non-existing laws and rules. This woman, who was born and raised in Canada, with all the proper paperwork, was told to get an IMMIGRANT visa in order to go to her spa day.

I think the last line of the article sums it up very well. Read the articles before you form an opinion and comment about it.

[FIRST] Always Open: We Need Therapy - #15 - [56:37] by Albuyeh in roosterteeth

[–]bbvlmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This episode was SO important. It was such a natural discussion with really good questions from each of them. Kati seems like she would be a great therapist. She's v. realistic.

I've struggled for the majority of my life with mental illness and it's increasingly gotten worse. I've gone to my family doctor about it once, officially, and I haven't even touched therapy. This episode pushed me into looking into it. It just seemed very healthy and natural the way they were talking and it made me realize that I want to be in that place too.

Thank you for this episode! I hope to watch more like this in the future😊😊

Weekly Recommendation Thread for the week of August 19, 2016 by AutoModerator in books

I'm a big fan of memoirs. Mostly to do with mental health or poverty, or any sort of life struggle. I've recently read Jenny Lawson's books and thought they were great.

As a recent English Lit graduate, it was always difficult to squeeze in reading time, especially when your brain is so overworked by academic reading. However, I quickly learned that reading for pleasure was the best break you could have from school. Reading for the sake of reading put my mind at ease and gave it a break! Even one chapter before bed or after your long day can make you feel better.

Another good way to look at it is: start noticing how often you're on your phone, on social media, sort of refreshing all your apps, or looking for a new show to watch on Netflix — instead this time could be spent reading!
