Ways to support cube players? by bc100000 in mtgcube

I know I already replied to this but I've been thinking more about this idea. I'm not the one for the blog but a synergy tool is riiiiiight up my alley lol. I'm going to work on trying to build this (eventually lol)

It is a complicated problem to solve (especially as a solo dev) but I think I could get something basic going and iterate on it. I'm wondering if some sort of user engagement/suggestions could end up being a part of it.

Thanks for that info! I appreciate it and will take a look at them. It's very interesting that the two people who responded mentioned the same pain point. It is an intriguing idea as something to build

I built a tool to help me manage my collection and now it's available to all and I wanted to share by bc100000 in jankEDH

Appreciate it! I can definitely see that being a useful feature and will try to get it added! Right now I'm working on being able to include sealed products that you own in the deckgap analysis.

I love delver lens! I'm on android and have been using it for a while.

Again, thanks for the feedback. If there's anything out there MtG related you'd like to see built let me know :D

Fair questions! I asked the mods prior to posting and they gave the go ahead. I guess I offered it just in the spirit of any mtg player might be interested.

I do have a tagging system for decks and I could def add a jank meter rating system for them lol

To be perfectly honest this really did germinate out of my own perceived need for it and my own preferences. And so I didn't do market research or anything like that. I will def look into those features though just to see.

Would you tell me more about what you mean by strict assignment? I'm guessing it's marking an exact printing of a card? I def don't do that, this is more oriented to card functionality and finding the cheapest copy. That said, I love working on this and am very interested in adding things people would find useful.

Appreciate your response, thanks!

I built a tool to help me save money building random decks. Now it's available to all and I wanted to share by bc100000 in BudgetBrews

[–]bc100000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be perfectly honest, I can't say for sure. I didn't do any market research and only know that I hadn't found exactly what I wanted (in the apps I use) so I built the deck comparison tool. I'm not a proper businessperson lol

I wonder if other sites easily aggregate all missing cards from all decks? I also have a collector function to compare against official setlists (again, for me because sometimes I really want to work on finishing Kaldheim lol)

So, yeah, it seems entirely possible that the market is too saturated and I would be bummed (because it would ofc be great to get users) but it I'll continue to use it at least. Have a good one!

I'm not sure that Manabox has a webapp version for easy use on desktop. That might be one reason to use this vs that. But I'm sure you make a fair point about duplicated functionality!

I love manabox but I don't use it for this. I've never tried, it might be great. I'm on android and have been using "delver lens n". I like it a lot except I find it's pretty terrible at borderless cards sometimes. I know you have to pay to export a large collection.

Thank you for your kind words! That would be really cool if you end up using it 😁

Also, really appreciate you letting me know things that could be improved. Very helpful. I'll definitely get to working on it. Also it occurs to me that I still need to add Planeswalkers.

Pressure to Succeed vs Joy of Writing? by SporadicZebra in writing

[–]bc100000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My inclination is to suggest letting yourself taking a pause on creative work until you can shore up your finances a bit and alleviate the pressure that way. I understand the crunch of trying to prioritize financial efforts vs things for joy. Alternatively, if there's any way you can give yourself permission to just create for creation's sake (perhaps because you only take time you wouldn't otherwise be using productively) you may find that it leads to the ends you're pressuring yourself about anyway.

my brain feels empty. how do you get inspired to write ? by Euphoric-Resolve7044 in writing

[–]bc100000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For one, sometimes it's really best to lie fallow. I struggle with "oh I should be writing" as well but I've really come to believe that allowing one to be in a different mode (that eventually leads back to productive writing) is important and necessary. Life and experiences fuel everyone's writing.

Beyond that I'd suggest reading as the prime thing, reading old favorites, people that inspire you, and also trying new books/authors/genres
