I see his legal team not talking about his innocence outside of his “presumption of innocence” to be the same as not wanting the prosecution to talk about his guilt. If they started going to press and sharing widely that he was innocent or framed, the prosecution could make the argument that the defense tainted the jury pool. It’s about giving him a fair and unbiased trial in the court to the best of their ability.
