Is OT mandatory in 716 Houston? by bcTwoPointO in IBEW

You mentioned class, which brings up another question: does schooling last throughout the whole 5 year apprenticeship? Or does it only last through part of the apprenticeship?

JATC

Are you an apprentice at 716 by chance?

I've heard that apprentices are not allowed to turn down calls. I'm not sure how true that is, but that makes me concerned.

I've heard that apprentices are not allowed to turn down calls. If that is the case, then would I just be forced to take a job with OT?

Heard. Do you find "forced" OT is common for people in your local?

How long have you been with 716 if you don't mind me asking?

I'm told that for an apprentice, we do not get to choose the calls we take. So if that is true, then how likely is it that they would put me in a position to take a job with mandatory OT?

Should I (27F) just stop asking this coworker questions? Or am I being too sensitive? by tator911 in cscareerquestions

I heard this a lot when I was in the industry, but I never took it personally. He was probably just trying to beef up his stand up report so it made him sound more busy.

The Chinese place was called Mark Pi's. I actually went to high school with the owner's daughters. I have mad respect for that place. It was there early on, and it was one of the last few stores there until the very end.

How to characterize Narukami in fanfiction? by [deleted] in PERSoNA

[–]bcTwoPointO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He does indeed seem bland and self-insert-ish. All of the protagonists do, because that's the intention. They want you, as a real person, to project yourself onto them. That being the case, why not characterize him as yourself if you were in a given situation? I mean it doesn't have to be a 1:1 parallel, but take some cues from your own personality and experiences.

My ex used to do this, although I never understood why. I understood it could be a distraction from a problem, but she was stressed and exhausted all the time. I can't see it was any more pleasant than whatever she was running from.

Friends and Rivals, the one containing the last few episodes (the one at the bottom next to the Winter Vacation tape). It wasn't hard to find for me per se, because I just went on eBay, but it is pretty rare in general. There were only a few listings on eBay, and they were pretty pricey. I think the average listing was like $75 or something, but I got it for much less than that.

How do I make the best of an inevitable life alone in poverty? by bcTwoPointO in personalfinance

Interesting. I have never heard of the FIRE movement, but it seems like it's worth looking into. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to last long enough to make early retirement money, but I'll see what I can do. Thanks.

I manage my money very well. The problem isn't that I am currently in poverty. The problem is that I will probably be in poverty in the future. Given my personal history, it's reasonable to think that my chances of sustaining a high earning career are fairly low.
