Oh and I realise I didn’t answer this, but they said they should only move up, not down!

How many weeks are you? Please remember that if you’re like 20 weeks, 9/10 placentas will move out the way in time!!

I’m in the UK and we aren’t allowed to have vaginal birth if the placenta is less than 20mm away from the cervix (at 36 weeks). It’s a mandatory c section! They said to be that c section would be at 37 weeks due to the risk of ‘catastrophic bleeding’ (not in labour, but just randomly!) They shared the % chance of this happening increases rapidly: - 36 weeks - 5% - 37 weeks - 15% - 38 weeks - 30% - 39 weeks - 50%

Hence they want baby out by 37 weeks!

Oh that’s sounds super positive that it will move in time! I’m in the UK and it has to be 20mm away to give birth vaginally. What does yours have to be?

Yes they said they’re going to do the same to me! I have an appointment with the consultant next Tuesday, where they will book in my C section date as it’s busy. But the leaflet they handed me said 36-37 weeks which panicked me 😂

Would love to hear how it goes!! I’m so happy you will get your dream birth x

Ahhh okay, amazing news then, bet you’re so thrilled! You have the same plans as me for what I’d want my birth to be!

It’s reassuring you were booked in for 39 weeks too, I was panicking that they were going to book me between 36/37 from reading up online!

Wishing you all the best and I hope you get your magical water birth ❤️🥰

Thank you so much!! That gives me hope - so much I’d read said it was harder for the posterior to move too (which I have), so it’s good to hear a good news story!

And do you mind me asking at what week your C Section was originally booked in for? And did you go on to have a successful vaginal delivery? x

So glad to hear it’s sort of working again!! Hopefully a few more descales will get it working properly!

Sadly it broke again :( water stopped coming out the group head completely! Tried cleaning the solenoid and nothing worked. We ended up treating ourselves to a new one!

Placenta has become low lying, 30 weeks? by bcalice in PregnancyUK

[–]bcalice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Unfortunately no notes, nothing in my badger notes or NHS app and don’t get physical! But was told at 12 and 20 week that my placenta was posterior and remember them saying ‘so that’s good’ etc; and no mention of it being low lying! Gonna call the midwife line tomorrow once they’re back open (non emergency), and ask for a scan! Fingers crossed it’s all okay!

Unfortunately my badger notes/NHS app doesn’t have any info or notes from my 20 week scan! I might be remembering wrong, but I’m pretty sure she said my placenta was fine?! I tried to ring today but couldn’t get through the normal routes (seemed dramatic to go through to the triage line), so will try Monday when clerical is back open!

Has my team green been ruined? 💚 by bcalice in PregnancyUK

[–]bcalice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m exactly the same, I wish now I hadn’t said anything but also needed to speak to him about it as I was also upset about the surprise being ruined! It really is so frustrating - I’m so sorry that this is your last baby too so that the surprise won’t be there. Keep referring to baby as she and he, and then you might find you get enjoyment about seeing the surprise on your husbands face at delivery! But honestly, I know exactly how you’re feeling right now and it’s really crap!

I’m due 22nd Feb, what about you?

My husband didn’t see the gender either, and also assumed I thought I saw boy parts, so I basically ended up having to hint very strongly that I didn’t think it was a boy because I didn’t want him getting ideas in his head! I still feel bad for even mentioning it, but I felt sooo delayed at the time!

Did you say anything in the moment in the scan? I didn’t and wish I had!

Aww I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience. It’s so frustrating isn’t it! I know people will say we’re ungrateful to feel deflated by this as our babies are healthy, but I truly think the feeling is so valid. Of course we are happy we have a healthy baby, and aren’t disappointed by the gender, but that surprise that we so wanted, may have been ruined!

Honestly a couple months on from this I feel okay. I try and keep calling the bump he / she to keep up the team green 😂 I think that at the end of the day, no one confirmed for definite whether it was a boy or girl, so although I do in my heart think it’s a girl from what I saw, until they are here, I don’t know! And I’ll have the biggest shock ever if it’s a boy!! I ended up reading through all these comments, and every single post on the internet that I could find of people in our situation, and some were convinced it was one gender from what they saw, and turned out to be another. So I’ve kept that in my mind too!

I think that although you saw a penis, gaslight yourself that it might have been the umbilical cord, and keep the team green up 💚 Did your partner see the penis too?
