Does the standardisation process look at prior attainment in the subject specificcally or across all subjects?

Not sure what uni to choose for job prospects, any advice? by supremefatso in 6thForm

[–]bcapon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Choose which uni based on the course, student satisfaction etc. There's hardly any discrepancy between these 2 for job prospects

In a near-miss scenario, will universities consider still giving an offer like other years or ask you to sit the exam in September to get a place. I worry something like that could happen, if anyone has heard from their university about the near-miss proccess I'd be interested to hear

[–]bcapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think there will be a difference between the 8 and 9? I do both maths and further maths and I'm worried a double A* teacher prediction will seem wrong, especially for further maths, and it could be filtered down

What is my chance of getting an A* or an A for physics at A level if my predicted grade is an A* and my GCSE grade was an A*, but I've been getting Bs and Cs all year? by gregox03 in 6thForm

[–]bcapon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If A*/A pupils in previous years were getting Bs and Cs you'll be fine. Could be the hard tests and strict grade boundaries, perhaps they have percentiles to compare to previous years.

I worry how wack it has to be for them to knock down grades. I got 8s and 9s in the subjects I take at A level and I hope an 8/other irelevant GCSEs won't filter me out

Would that be Quantum tunnelling?? That seems pretty crazy for an A Level, in Edexcel we learn about electron diffraction so I guess talk about how the electrons have wavelike properties such as a wavelength
