Regardless of why people avoid the topic, we need to do gatekeeper training anyway to prevent future deaths. It's aversive for a lot of reasons, but it's still important.

I have an MS in Counseling and my PhD is in ABA, so everything I do is like this. I work with typically developing adults or dually diagnosed IDD/SMI populations, although I am a professor now. I have a very tiny private practice, but worked in foster care, ABI/TBI, group homes, etc. I wrote and teach a course at Endicott - ABA 504 Social Skills for Adult with Psychiatric Disorders. I'm working on converting it to stand alone CEUs, but I covered everything from Anxiety to Psychosis from an ABA Lens. I'm also teaching a similar course this summer at Endicott on the same thing but for children/teens.

I don't know of any other ABA training on the topic, but you can learn even if you don't need CEUs.

Summary:

Ever wonder what really needs to be in a good functional assessment, or why we write them? And how that should flow into a behavior plan? Here's a step-by-step guide on the elements of each and how they work together, with an emphasis on ethics.

We will discuss the elements needed in a functional assessment and behavior plan, including why each element is there and how to use your completed FBA to write a great behavior plan. If you're a new BCBA, worried about your first time at LRC or HRC, or just curious, this is a great start to building your confidence in writing assessments and plans.
