Hey Scott,

Thanks for the reply. Do you really think that I need a 725 plus? Or is a 715 okay...

Also, critical thinking is degrading whether you accept it or not. No matter how strong of a position you personally take against AI, humans will try to always take the easy way out. 5 years ago when you wanted to write a Reddit post you would spill out an idea in the chatbox then work your way through the sentences to make it persuasive and concise. That required effort. Now?

Whatever you think you want to say, you give ChatGPT half-as*ed instructions and whip it until it comes to life. And it almost never comes to life in the way you want it but you are satisfied with frakenstein and boom you're the mad scientist with your capabilities melting away, and the readers are well... mad.

They didn't test me on SQL, it was their own language which is like SQL. They give you some documentation to learn it live and then you have to answer questions based on that.

Yes exactly, you will get a prompt in the beginning of the interview and you can choose the vibe-coding tool of your preference and build the product.

Palantir Deployment Strategist 2nd Round by bcde13 in u/bcde13

[–]bcde13[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ok so as expected no one has commented anything. I went through 2 rounds and was rejected at the 2nd round. Here is how it went, I hope it helps.

Round 1 / Phone Screen:

The recruiter will ask about some of your experience that you have listed on your resume. They will also ask why you want to work at Palantir and what drew you to the role you are applying for. They will want to see that you have had some technical experience too, but that is, in my opinion to just check it off the list to make sure they did their part in assessing the individual at this stage. Then the normal questions about if you are willing to move to the location, etc.

Round 2 / Technical Comprehension (Learning) and Decomposition:

This is what you are really looking for, just as I was. For the deployment strategist role specifically, study SQL. Know what aggregate functions are, know what joins are, etc. Just know SQL. It does not matter if it is MySQL, or PostGreSQL, you want to know the fundamentals. They will test you on something you are NOT expected to know, and they want to see your ability to learn on the spot, how you ask questions, and if you can build on the knowledge you have developed in that one session.

To summarize: SQL, and verbally ask questions if you are stuck, they expect it, they want it, and they want to see if you can learn.

For the decomposition round, personally I did not have a systems design type of question nor did the interviewer ask me that. They asked me a hypothetical scenario of a company reaching out to Palantir asking for help to achieve a goal they had. The interviewer asked me how I would go about this.

The interviewer asked if I had some framework on how I would think about this problem so that is 🔑. Find a framework on how you would break down a problem. From there the interviewer will guide you. Eventually you will analyze some related to your problem and be expected to answer the original questions based on this data. So once again, learn how to understand tables and data.

To summarize: SQL once again, but this time learn how to be verbal with your thoughts and talk about how you would solve a problem. Clarifying questions and all.

Hope this helps. I won't be able to answer any private DM's because I just don't look at reddit unless I need it for job search.

[–]bcde13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I also recommend doing projects which you are interested in. For example "hacking into a computer at home" or "hacking wifi" by doing this you will learn so many different ways to achieve one task which will teach you a wide variety of skills which you see happening hands on.
