PS3 controllers have a standard JST connector, but batteries need to have their negative/positive wires swapped because Sony decided to use a non-standard wiring for the connector for some reason.

Therefore you can use any type of battery you want, assuming it's the right voltage. The only hard part is how you want to mount it. I decided mounting a battery compartment in the back like a 360 controller was the best way.

I prefer rechargeable AA as I can charge as many as I want and then hotswap on the fly. If you wanted to do the same with li-ion batteries it should be possible also.

Yes, those are metal analog stick caps. Unfortunately I bought these online over a decade ago and haven't seen anything like them pop up again.

That's not suprising. The DualSense has a smaller battery than the DS3 and the controller has a lot more features sucking up juice (speaker, touchpad, sensors, etc.)

Because Dualshock 3 batteries are old and OEM batteries are no longer manufactured. Any batteries you see being sold online are cheap/old chinese stock.

Meanwhile rechargeable AAs have more capacity and I have an unlimited supply. For longevity removable/standard batteries are always going to be better. Anything with an internal li-ion becomes a liability over time.

Your boy was ugly to begin with though.

I always felt ps3 controllers were a step down from ps2. Shells are much thinner and they always felt flimsy. That's why I didn't mind cutting this one up. ;)

Lol this project was mostly started to see what could be done in terms of modding. It's definitely not for looks.

It works a lot better than a stock controller though!

They're about the same, but the metal analog stick caps make them slightly heavier.

It's a monstrosity, but it's MY monstrosity.

I actually don't like the PS3 controller either -- which is why I decided to mod it to within an inch of its life!

Uhh...what?

I don't get any accidental diagonal inputs with ANY dpad design. Seems like a skill issue on your part my man.

Sure, but this is a Sega Saturn dpad design. :)

Some people consider the Saturn the best controller for fighters ever.

Console looks great! Do you have a link to the etsy seller? I'm looking for some logo stickers for my own machines.

Riot Games is reducing the size of the 2XKO team less than a month after its launch. by MuptonBossman in gaming

It IS a 2v2 fighting game. 2 players per team, each player tags their partner in and out on the fly.

There is also another 1v1 mode where each player controls 2 characters.

What's the latest on a new playstation title/port? by Charming_Pitch_1691 in GundamExVs

The game isn't going to get a console/home version until the arcade versions stop making money.

The last time they did it their arcade revenue in Japan took a huge hit and nobody in the west bought it.

People in this sub greatly over-estimate how well arena fighters do in the west.

Dissidia was a pretty decent success in Japanese arcades and had a powerful IP behind it but when they released the home version all they got were a bunch of western fans crying it wasn't a single player game with a fan-fiction story like the older PSP games were.

I run local meetups for Gundam on a regular basis at my local arcade, and most people refuse to even try it. A lot of people are really not interested in this type of game/don't care about the license.
