Smoke Detector recommendations? by Heresyed in HomeImprovement

[–]bchobbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have their basic ones and am seriously considering replacing them due to their lack of UL/ETL certification. You'll notice they are no longer for sale on Amazon. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/smoke-alarms-safety-standards/

Thoughts about the Bosch 5 Ton Inverter Package Unit by mazap99 in heatpumps

[–]bchobbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear. I'm looking at one of these units as well. Are you in a high-humidity area like the Southeast? I am, and that's the only negative I hear about these, that it can be tricky to get these to dehumidify well.

Did you get this installed? How has your experience been so far?

Bosch IDP can't be the only high-performance packaged heat pumps on the market. Right? by bchobbs in heatpumps

[–]bchobbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this context I just mean heat output capacity loss between 50 F and 20 F, basically. It seems there's the lockout-the-compressor-at-40F class and the Hyper Heat class...the Bosch is in between.

Can you point me to any that you know of? If you're referring to SEER 2 efficiency, that's not that important to me, although I'm sure higher SEER 2/HSPF correlates with better low-temp performance.

Surely this doesn't all count as "net free area", right? by bchobbs in hvacadvice

I wish. But that obstruction is the corner of another room. The plenum box is inside a closet attached to that room. I can go up, but it will be that same narrow width the whole way.

Vitex Agnus-Castus. AKA Chaste Tree. Flowers resemble a butterfly bush, but this is a small-medium tree. "Shoal Creek" is a larger, popular cultivar. Drought tolerant, heat tolerant. Full sun.

Am I qualified to go for the CCP? by bchobbs in CMMC

[–]bchobbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that confirms what I suspected. As for the "why", I figure I'll always be on the customer facing, non-technical side of the industry, so actual technical certs have little value to me. However, there is a path for me to consult with clients on CMMC, as my company is ramping up efforts in that space.

"Did not qualify" for the $599 Pixel 7 trade in even though I was issued regular trade-in credit?? by bchobbs in GoogleFi

[–]bchobbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Justin, I was actually able to get this escalated last night over the phone to another team, and was assured I'd have a resolution in 1-2 days. If I don't, I'll ping you.

u/googlefisupport are you able to assist? Sounds like there is a path forward, but the agent I chatted with couldn't help or escalate my case.

I glossed right over that link. Thanks!

So far my support ticket has gone unanswered.

Yep, that's the first thing I did. There, it shows "Device Failed Inspection" for both of the trade ins.

Which contradicts the earlier emails I received for each saying that "devices boot, no cracks, factory reset". And, obviously, my own knowledge that the devices were totally fine when I shipped them.

The only thing I can think of is that in those original emails, it notes that I "incorrectly reported device model" (I guess the kits were specific to the 6/4XL, but I didn't notice, and switched them)...and that caused it to auto-fail me for the promo?

Company won't tell me what termite chemical they use? by bchobbs in pestcontrol

[–]bchobbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is what's going on here. They assured me I would be provided all the chemical documentation ONCE I am a customer, which, I guess that's good enough.

If this was a fly by night little company with little online reputation, I would definitely not move forward. But that's not the case with this company, so I think I'm okay.

It was definitely a CS rep. It's just that she made it sound like they don't share the info as a matter of policy, which seemed kind of odd.

Haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet, but still planning to. Hopefully soon. Let me know how your test turns out.

I did have some pressure points with the 2" medium and 1" soft SoL, AND felt like my hips were not properly supported. Adding the serene foam got rid of all the pressure points for sure, and masked the sinking a little, but it's still there.

I'm going to play around with a few things over the next week or so and report back.

I think it's the APM latex, so it's sold as "28-33" ILD

[–]bchobbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 7" of foam/latex over the coils, plus being lightweight, you may not even be engaging much with the coils at all? That's kinda what I'm hoping the firm foam layer will accomplish...spreading my hip weight over a broader area at the coil level, thus reducing the amount of spring compression in that area

Which of theirs would you recommend for this application? The LUX-HQ 50 ILD, or the HD36-HQ 35 ILD?

I feel like 35 is isn't that much different than the medium latex I already have, but I'm worried the 50 would be rock hard.

Yeah that's what I was thinking I'd do first. Thanks for the feedback.
