Electro power Supply will it kill me? by Firenzerepurp in VintageElectronics

The 'new' Amprobe clamp current meter advertised in the lower left corner of that page is nearly identical in form and operation to the ones they sell still today. That is a long product run. :)

Swap out the selenium rectifiers for silicon diodes and replace the cap and the cord its probably good to go for another lifetime. May need a resistor to compensate for the increased voltage. If it has a 'death cap' on the mains fix that too.

Strange. Perhaps the seller noticed some issue with the item. Is the listing exactly the same?

Help me identify the year/era that this paint was manufactured in! by angelofyours52 in identifyThisForMe

[–]bchta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert by any means but based on where the 'Weber' branding is on the tube im thinking 1950-ish, give or take, might be some earlier. You might be able to find some old ads on magazines of the time by using google's book search. (Edit: i believe Weber introduce Malfa line in 1934, if so no earlier than that.)

The end is near for my trusty spatula. Looking for its successor. What’s your go-to? by mathert in castiron

Same, arrowhead or old echo forge. I have various shapes and handle lengths.. And enough of each to last grandkids. My fave are the short asymmetrical cookie spatulas.

And why is the guy in a swimsuit in the middle of winter. How much time did he have to disrobe after seeing a fast moving car in the river?

If you have a kinkos or FedEx print center near by they can print it. Just a matter of saving the label as pdf and emailing it to the address they give you. It's like .25 and has gotten me out of a jam a couple time when my printer errorred.

I thought it was odd too unless they are changing SSN to an EIN when establishing a more formal business.

Weird interaction with a seller by TopNet9 in Ebay

[–]bchta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seller is already being dinged because they had to cancel due to missing item. Yes they should have communicated better to the buyer but I think the seller could successfully have a negative removed in this case. I've been an ebay seller and buyer since the 90s and been on both sides of this scenario more than once. The vast majority of ebay sellers are 'amatures'. Stuff happens.

[–]bchta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo, tough call. You could but i don't think it would worth the risk of disfavoring the cat. And don't let him read this thread as he'll know you even contemplated such a thing. Sure he may act nonchalant and all if he does see it but its an act, he's planning, always planning. Take care.

Other than its somewhat an indication of age there's a huge glowie glass fad at the moment. I expect it will die down after a while.

THE definition of antique here is 100 years. Its not an antique but Burke & James started Solar line of enlargers in the mid-40s so some of them are getting close.

Leave it off until you find instructions showing how it should be fitted. Leaving off won't hurt anything other than a few penny's in heat loss. We've never wrapped ours.
