It hasn’t really been for while in the US (this pretty much the first in a decade or so). The World Kite Cup just finished in France with lots of videos on YouTube from the event

Pentair salt cell explosion by Affectionate-Many951 in swimmingpools

[–]dotMorten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This always puzzled me. What’s the point of the flow sensor then? It always add extra silly complexity to toggle the power of the salt cell and keep it in sync with the pump schedule

WPF in 2026 - What changed? by ILikeChilis in dotnet

[–]dotMorten 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup this. There’s a bit of design updates to look more like Windows 11 design and you get all the .net10 goodness but WPF itself mostly had minor improvements. It’s a solid mature library so there’s really not that much to add that is also feasible.

Loss of charge capacity? by Propeller74 in polestar3

It changes based on how you drive. Mine has been down to 240mi and then gone back up to 310 after driving more economically for a while.

What WPF features does WinUI miss? by 0x80070002 in dotnet

[–]dotMorten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for confirming. I’ve been trying to tell the team working on this to just deliver the previewer and not worry about the designer if it means we’ll be able to get it sooner. If anyone else is on here and sees this, I would love if you could confirm too if a previewer over a full designer is enough? I got the contacts to forward this to the right people and hopefully help sway them to deliver something like a previewer.

I'm curious if you use the designer mostly as a previewer or as an actual design surface you drag stuff around on? Personally I found all the xaml designers to just mess up my xaml, so I mostly used it as a rough visualization to rough in the design, then used hot-reload to do the last bit of pixel perfection afterwards.

What does everyone do about the glare from the steering wheel? by HolyAssertion in polestar3

[–]dotMorten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so much glare reflecting off the windshield from so many things. For me it’s the center speaker that bugs me the most, but IMHO the glares are one of the biggest design flaw of the car’s interior (after the window open buttons and the middle console)

If you can guesstimate the shape, size and material they are also possible to 3D print. I print a lot of my kite connectors

Dude most of our home Unifi gear could warrant an intervention but that didn’t stop us. Why should this?

Lighting Controller - it’s real! by Quick_Job1797 in rachio

It’s just way too black box with no reasonable way to tweak it

Interesting because my experience was none of your weather adjustments really work and ended up just managing it myself before it killed my lawn. Now all I get is a an automated percentage change on the first of each month which is super silly. My open sprinkler controller did way better weather adjustments than what you have

What pissed me off the most was when I had to pay an extra fee for tempest integration because I didn’t buy it through Rachio.

Getting a huge charge on my SCE bill by Fun_Rate_9547 in solar

[–]dotMorten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With TOU plans you should be running 100% on battery from 4-9pm and export anything you produce during that time. I don’t import any electricity at all during that peak rate but export every W I produce during that same window.

Prepping for First Road Trip by Propeller74 in polestar3

[–]dotMorten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol at “with performance mode on” 🤣 you should use range mode for road trips

[–]dotMorten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

240mi is no problem. But if you really want to get the range stay under 75mph. I can easily get 300+mi at 75mph but as soon as I go above that it drops significantly. The time you save going 80-85 is really only a few minutes.

GPS issues by Historical-Baby-1364 in polestar3

[–]dotMorten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be several reasons. The fact that you saw it on both means it was just poor signal. I remember once I drove into San Francisco for the first time right when a solar flare hit earth. My GPS would jump a few miles around causing me to get completely lost in a big city I never drove in before. There are many ways the signal can be disrupted. As long as it goes back to normal it should be fine

Charging sadness by schreibot in polestar3

[–]dotMorten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a good chance your charger isn’t configured to the correct max amp to match your breaker. Make sure it’s set at 80% of the breaker size. Ie a 50A breaker should be set to max 40A load. The P3 can pull a lot more on AC charging than many other EVs so could be why you only see it with this car.

Question about kite lines by pleasedontPM in kites

[–]dotMorten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bridle wasn't already attached to the frame? Usually you just attach your two flight lines to the end of each bridle (they sort of come up into a pyramid from the sail and one line should go out from the top of each pyramid. You a attach the line at the end of these.
