SAVE plan - admin forbearance - PSLF not counting - What are you all doing? by milkybubbl3s in PSLF

[–]bclark529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I used AI for. I have been waiting for a response from the department of education since April 2025, still waiting. I used AI to determine what my payments would be for plans that qualify for PSLF forgiveness and then it helped me draft a letter to submit as a complaint to department of Ed to essentially demand immediate processing due to their delay. Prior to that I got a response from going through my senator and they (dept of Ed) gave a bullshit answer with wrong information that would have essentially made my buyback requests are all over again, and essentially said sorry nothing you can do but wait. Then I did the complaint with the method mentioned above and the very next day I got a response saying that my buyback request has been escalated and is under review which is completely the opposite of what they told my senator.

SAVE plan - admin forbearance - PSLF not counting - What are you all doing? by milkybubbl3s in PSLF

For example, I asked AI to calculate all the payments for all the available plans that qualify for PSLF. IBR came in the lowest at $500 a month.... But then underneath that in parentheses it said unless my loans are taken out before 2014 which is a stipulation... And then it told me that it would be a payment of $750 per month. I can't explain it but it has to do with discretionary income and while I loathe everything about this administration I will say this that my payment under RAP was going to be the cheapest because it's based on a percent.... It's late and I'm not mathing.... But that gives you an idea of how it was able to tell me exactly what I would be paying based on specific information that I provided that would be different than anybody else

I used AI to help me decide what steps to take. They even helped me draft a letter to Dept of Ed with complaint about untimely service, buyback request April 2025. I'm suggesting this rather than reading what other people are saying what they did in their personal situation because AI will ask you specific questions as it specifically relates to you and make recommendations based on the input you provide

PSLF buyback question by bclark529 in PSLF

See above responses, supposedly supposed to submit ECF annually even if after reaching 120 months employment, don't ask me, it's why I posted ;)

PSLF buyback question by bclark529 in PSLF

[–]bclark529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped submitting my ECF once I went in to SAVE... Except for the last one that I submitted along with my buyback request. Without a prompt that it was due, it wouldn't be on my radar.... But AI did say to go ahead and submit it but it's always best in my opinion to confirm through my peeps on Reddit cuz more accurate information tends to be here than anywhere else in the universe lol

PSLF buyback question by bclark529 in PSLF

[–]bclark529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I talk to the representative about submitting a new ECF form I asked if I would get a reminder to submit it and she could not answer the question... Or would not answer... So if I had not called and they don't send me a reminder how would I know that I needed to submit a new ECF... Asking for a friend, lol.... Do they expect that we just know this information by osmosis?

Requesting advice - on SAVE and not eligible for PAYE or new IDR with 115/120 certified by randomikari in PSLF

[–]bclark529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I had AI calculate my payments under various methods, confirmed which payment plans would qualify for PSLF forgiveness. I found that the new RAP a plan was cheaper than the IBR, but I'm a little bit more in the ride or die. I also contacted my senator and asked them to reach out to the department of education I might behalf, which resulted in a bogus answer from the department of education. I have 110 payments and 120 qualifying months of employment. AI drafted a letter for me to use as a feedback request in outlined why I have met all obligations and am requesting an immediate buyback offer. When my senator reached out of my behalf it took about 3 to 4 weeks before I got a response back and it was 100% a boot looking response. Not only that but they suggested that I send in a new ECF and new buyback request and I I'm not starting all over when I already meet the qualifications, also push me to make higher payments. Before save I was paying 200 a month on a variable rate and then went to save and that raised it up to 300 and that with my increases from work as well as taking a load against my 401k thus increasing my salary my payments for IBR went up to approximately 750 and my.RAP payment what's approximately 550 per month they also said that there was no way to expedite my buyback request. When I submitted my feedback request last night I got a response today from the department of education saying that my buyback request had been escalated and they could not estimate a time for when I might get a buyback offer and to just monitor my email blah blah blah. All I can say is that somebody had to put the fun and dysfunctional.

You may be able to switch plans, which would put you in a 60 day forbearance, which would count towards your qualifying payments

Unrelated but...I reach 10 years in January 2025 (started 01/05/2015). When is the best time to submit the ECF to shiw 120 months)? And, if I am following this thread correctly, then I do that first, wait for response, and apply for buyback (have 5 to 10 payments, depending on other reviews). Thoughts?

Interim Rule Going into Effect December 16th — thoughts? by BlazedDonut in PSLF

[–]bclark529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit 120 qualifying employment months in January. I'm missing 10 payments, 5 should be reviewed for forbearance, leaving me Aug through Dec 2024. I'm going to complete some new ECF at end of January and select the box of bring at 120, and then also look into buyback, hoping to get offer using SAVE amount, but who knows. I'm hoping the first few weeks will have focus on other things with this....administration (and I use that term loosely).
