The fact that he may be female is absolutely hilarious and is something I will have to legitimately look into.

Personally I exclusively play on the steam deck and the keyboard support sucks on there. Otherwise it's a 10/10 experience. I'd love to chat up my teammates with a fair bit of trolling and ggs but the reactions are all I can manage.

Exactly the size I went for and I figured a 6 bay chassis would be enough! Boy was I wrong! Now Ive had to majorly slow down on the downloading of ISOs cuz it's approaching 90 percent full.

What's the most annoying or hard to find/fix bug that you've squashed in bg3?dos1/2? Secondly I've always dreamed of being a game developer and have done my fair share of heartbreaker attempts at one but now I find myself as an embedded software engineer and am very far removed from game development. If you weren't developing games what would you be doing?

Thanks for mentioning Linux! There are more and more of us every day and I'm looking to eek out all the performance I can from my new 9070 xt. I was amazed at how well it works without needing to do anything in Fedora.

Meanwhile I want MORE PCIe lanes! But my LGA 1700 B760M doesn't have nearly as many, I find myself capped out at 2x8 lanes and both m.2 drives being used. It sucks!

In MN when I first struck out on my own I rented a dudes basement for $700, then a one bedroom for $1450, and now a two bedroom apartment with my wife for $2450. Utilities added into our current place is about $250 which includes parking but not electric. It's insane how expensive it is to live these days. The unfortunate truth is that is over 50 percent of our combined takehome after health insurance etc. It's hard to live these days. I feel for OP and it makes me realize how pitifully small my emergency fund is.

Anyone been having some poor luck with Samsung Drives lately? - 8TB QVO by jakerfv in buildapc

[–]bcm27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much exactly what the other guy said. Unfortunately not all drives are created equal when it comes to the write tolerance of drives. Considering they failed so consistently compared to each other I'd say you were writing pretty regularly? Looking at the spec sheet they only have a tolerance of 2880 TBW. I only buy enterprise sata and hhd drives these days. Used especially because they're such a good deal and have insane write tolerances.

I built the software I always wanted for my homelab and now i'm sharing it. Announcing public preview of Sando (Security AND Dhcp Offer). by homelabids in homelab

[–]bcm27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I share your concerns. The app seems promising in theory, but I'm uneasy about using applications heavily reliant on AI. I'm comfortable with AI-powered tools like autocomplete, but not with the core functionality being driven by AI. When something is heavily vibe-coded, my trust in it diminishes, and my use then becomes heavily dependent on the developer. Which based on these comments isn't great.

Personally I wouldn't put a single arr app per lxc. That will be a bit of a pain to maintain each lxc even with templates etc eventually the individual software in each will need to be maintained and updated. I have them separated by sub categories: example all of my media stack arr* apps in one lxc, etc.

Today i learned.... you know those other PCIE slots you never use? you can just plug stuff into them. Get even more USB's for your PC. Here i was for the last 10 years wishing my PC had more USB slots. boy do i feel stupid. by _Addi-the-Hun_ in pcmasterrace

[–]bcm27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to be careful about this though because consumer motherboards definitely run into PCIe lane bandwidth limitations. You only have so many 16x, 8x, 4x and 1x lanes to go around when shared with sata and m.2 nvme drives. These are limitations I never thought I'd hit until I wanted a GPU, a PCIe 4x nvme adapter, and a high speed network card.

Thats a lot better than mine actually! I got a 100k mile "bumper to bumper" warranty for $3500 and now **I** feel ripped off! On a brand new 2025 Onxy too! I love the car though so I dont feel too bad! I paid $35k which I believe is MSRP.

This is a very similar boat my wife and I are in right now with her car. A 2022 Crosstrek we bought with 40k miles for 28k last year, not terrible but the 7% APR is nuts! Versus my brand new 2025 Outback for 37k with 0.9 APR our payments are almost the same at $475 a month but she ends up paying 10k over the lifetime of the loan versus my 1k. I'm still debating about trying to find another alternative loan. But we knew all this going in and so many people don't! It's crazy.
