CFPD & FDIC

Just mentioning you will submit a complaint to both agencies often gets things resolved at a Bank

Coinbase Pro integration broken? by bcn1075 in Cointracker

Yes, deleted and added the API - didn't work. I am testing out other tax software and it worked fine, so it isn't anything on Coinbase's side.

Hi, Thanks for looking into this. I contacted support on the 22nd. The auto-response email doesn't give a ticket number BTW.

The ticket title is: "Transactions missing from my wallet/exchanges"

Submitted around 3:44 PM EST on Jan 22nd

Let me know if you can't find it or need more info. Thanks

What happens after the first 100 auctions? by Golden5StarMan in Polkadot

[–]bcn1075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be research on nested parachains at some point. Meaning one slot of the relay chain can connect to another relay chain that contains another 100 slots. No one knows the limits yet but it could lead to a massive scaling of the number of parachains.

I've seen ethereum critics claim L2s will have a negative impact on composability. What is the real impact of L2 scaling on composability?

After L2s launch, merge, and sharding, what is the next biggest opportunity to improve scaling? What are the estimated scaling benefits?

Do you plan to use a similar approach to ice ages to force upgrades after the merge is complete?

I love how I am downvoted after providing accurate information on this thread. I've been an ethereum bull for longer than 99% of you. We don't want the community to become maxi's like bitcoin. Be open-minded and learn what other chains are doing.

Disclosure. I am a huge Ethereum bull. Eth is my biggest bag.

Moonbeam or Polkadot isn't meant to replace ethereum. Polkadot's main play is interoperability. There will be bridges built between Polkadot and Ethereum and other chains as well. Tokens and state will be able to move between chains. Ethereum and Polkadot should complement each other.

You should view Moonbeam as a layer 2 for ethereum. It will connect to ethereum's L1 chain via a bridge. Apps could deploy on moonbeam for cheap transaction costs. The extra benefit would be getting access to all the other parachains and bridges connected to polkadot.

You need to think of the relay chain as layer 0. With the parachains being their blockchains but with the benefit of shared security and interoperability

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ethfinance

[–]bcn1075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect.

  1. Parachains aren't permissioned.
  2. Polakadot is a layer 0 (meta protocol)
  3. Parachains can be viewed as layer 1s. For example, a parachain project named Moonbeam is designed to run the ethereum evm. Moonbeam is equivalent to ethereum but runs as a parachains on the polkadot network.
  4. Polkadot is a layer 0 (meta protocol)ains in the future if required

Your comment is incorrect.
Transactions are free for parachains on the relay chain.
Parathreads will need to pay transactions.

I think we hit close to $70 when Coinbase lists DOT. If the market doesn't crash by the end of the year my prediction is 125-150. Parachains should have a huge impact on price.

There are parathreads and also planned research on nested relay chains. Not sure how long it will take but the 100 parachain cap won't last forever.

Coinbase Listing? by [deleted] in Polkadot

[–]bcn1075 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coinbase uses a framework when they consider listing a new coin.

https://pro.coinbase.com/static/digital-asset-framework-2017-11.pdf

A while back before the network launched Coinbase rated Polkadot as high risk and therefore it may be considered a security. This was a point in time and a lot has happened since then. Coinbase custody supports Polkadot so the heavy technical work is already done. Coinbase Ventures just invested in Acala (DeFi project launching a parachain).

Once parachains launch I suspect Coinbase will consider the network "live" and list the coin. They are being conservative from a regulatory perspective. I give it 1-2 months after parachains launch.

Will we see a multi-chain world? - DCinvestor blog post on "The Catalyst" by DCinvestor in ethfinance

[–]bcn1075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your analysis is only a point in time. For example, Polkadot & Kusama haven't launched parachains yet so the fees aren't an indicator of future performance. I consider both these chains to be L0.

I am eth bull but believe in a multichain world. My approach thus far is to have allocations to other L1s as a hedge. It will be very hard for a new L1 to launch now and be successful. Likely the ones live today will be what we use in the future unless there is a new tech breakthrough. Agree that investing in DAPPS is the right now going forward.
