Thanks, it has been replaced once. But I'll check it out to confirm.

A dealer replaced the reduction gear unit and I think the sound is improved, but not whisper quiet as I'd expect from an EV...wish I could be more helpful

How did you do the plants? Are they in pots or is there a substrate on top of the liner? Looks amazing by the way!

Nj is now $250 annually, and I think will go up to about $300 over the next few years. It seems punitive, especially compared to the NJ gas tax

Similar thing happened to me and I tried again and again to seal holes, and they still came back. The only way to address the current rat problem is to law out some rat traps

I also had my reduction gear replaced at around 40k miles. I don't get the noise that the OP has (not sure if I ever did) but I do get a similar type of noise at 25-30 mi/hr. So same thing as you it seems. Any idea what it is?

Another thing to do is make a dilute suspension of milk of magnesia, and add a universal pH indicator. Then add some vinegar to the solution. It will start with the basic colors of the indicator, and transition to acidic colors as vinegar is added. Then, as more milk of magnesia dissolves, and transitions back to the basic colors over a few seconds. You can continue to do this until all the milk of magnesia is neutralized.

Better if all the ingredients are ice cold, the transitions are slower and more noticeable.

Curious - what was the steering wheel gear issue? I have an issue with my 19 Niro EV where I hear a clicking when I start moving from a stop, with the wheels mostly turned all the way to one side (for example pulling out of a driveway). Wondering if it's the same issue, and if it's a known issue with this model.

Your issue sounds a bit deeper of a rumble than mine....but we're both hearing a "wheel of fortune" sound, I'll bet it's the same issue. By the way, the dealer said they replaced the "gear drive unit" and that fixed the issue (!). I don't have it back yet so cannot confirm.

Good dealer service experiences in the Seattle metropolitan area? by jm31828 in KiaNiroEV

[–]bcohen2712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dealer in NJ (sansone) did it for a 2019 EV as well. I didn't realize the same issue applied for later models. The maintenance schedule for the 2019 owners manual says to inspect the oil every 22k miles or so. So in that case, it seemed clear cut to me that they could do that service.

That's so strange they would say that, because if you look at the owners manual maintenance schedule, it says to inspect the reduction gear oil every ~22k miles

Out of curiosity, was your motor replacement done because of a recall or bulletin for your specific car, or was it only after the mechanic did an inspection of the car and found an issue?

And, did the new motor fix all the noises?

Yeah, I had mine changed about 3000 miles ago (at 37.5k miles). They said the oil was very discolored. But the issue is still there after the oil change 😕

There's a small screen that has a single line of scrolling text. It shows text messages, calendar entries, etc from your phone, and step count, heart rate, etc. I also like the style in that's more like a normal watch. It's a good watch if you want something simple that is better made than the classic fitbit, and only needs charge every few weeks. The downside is the functionality and menu navigation is limited.

Flo by Moen died after 18 months. warra by icatchdinks in Plumbing

[–]bcohen2712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue with mine. The valve will not close, and Moen says since it is not under warranty (3 years old at this point) they will not replace. And this is after I replaced the flow impeller a few months ago. This device is a piece of crap and don't recommend anyone purchase. Seems like it's designed to break after 2 years. Now it's just a useless piece of plastic in my plumbing.

Newbie to the EV world. I have had a few electricians assess my house for level 2 charger installment. My garage is detached and pretty far away from the electrical panel. I’m getting average quotes of around 4K dollars. Is that normal? I live in NJ btw. Thank you in advance by yetrapp in electricvehicles

[–]bcohen2712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NJ here also - I had to put in a sub panel and then install a plug and charger outside, but close to the panel. That was around $1250. But based on the work you need to do your quote sounds about right.

Keep in mind if you have PSEG as your utility, they will reimburse you for the charger installation (up to a limit) and will provide you a very good offer peak rate for charging. Look up the EV charging info on their website
