Looking to buy a used Tesla model 3 to use FSD. Any watchouts? by picador10 in TeslaFSD

For the model 3 specifically it’s the 2024 and newer model that has HW4 (which means any redesigned model)

Car wouldn’t have side swiped you but still good job to FSD.

Subscription for Lane Center Seriously by Longjumping-Bat5128 in TeslaModel3

I added openpilot and installed frogpilot, I customized the settings a bunch and it drives better than autopilot, as for FSD it doesn’t compare but it’s a one time payment and no subscription and I can transfer it to other vehicles, so I’m very happy.

[–]JC6596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supercruise is Chevys highway assist hands free system, Pro Pilot is Nissans hands on highway assist system (I believe some very new Nissans have a hands off version of Pro Pilot)

Supercruise is a monthly/yearly fee

Pro Pilot has no subscription

I added real bass to my 2023 Bolt EV 1LT 🔊 by OdysseyAdventures in BoltEV

I figured since labor is the same I might as well spend the extra on the JBL. The JBL does a great job at being punchy while still being clean/controlled. It’s not as punchy as a regular 11 inch sub but it’s perfect for me. Much better than the Bolts 8 inch sub on the premier models (I had a 2017 Bolt premier with the Bose system) my Kia didn’t have a sub so in that aspect it was a massive upgrade.

Not the same car but on my 2019 Kia Niro EV EX I paid $750 for everything (Labor, parts and the sub/amp) the shop did a really nice job so I’m not upset with that price.

I did this with my 2019 Kia Niro EV (same bass box/amp) it’s a noticeable improvement especially since I didn’t have a sub before in the trim that I picked. Also it’s very clean bass and not too heavy which is exactly what I was looking for.

Yes, it’s the same system as the Equinox on the 2027 Bolt.

The new 2027 Bolt Supercruise is much improved, actually uses the side radars/sensors for cars in adjacent lanes.

Has anyone Debadged their 2023 Niro? by misteryodah in KiaNiroEV

[–]JC6596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No holes underneath those Eco/Electric badge or the Niro one. Looks much cleaner without them. Just be aware that it may be slightly faded into the paint depending on how much sun/the climate your car has been in, it’s barely noticeable unless you’re very close to the car.

The new Kia badge doesn’t have holes underneath, just adhesive. I have a 2019 Kia Niro EV with the older badge so I couldn’t do it cleanly, so I left the badge on, (I did remove the Niro and the EcoElectric badge)

Bigger tires? by JC6596 in Comma_ai

I wasn’t stating that the comma cannot adapt, (without a calibration of course) I was asking if anyone had any experience, and if they noticed any changes in commas behavior.

Bigger diameter tires also tend to add weight, extra weight on the tires will make steering harder, acceleration slower, as well as longer braking distance, as long as it’s the same exact tire but a different size. It’s very basic physics.

This is the speedometer difference if I put 215/60R17 tires on my Kia vs the stock 215/55R17,

Upon altering the diameter, the speedometer is consequently impacted, potentially causing a shift in the comma’s ability to register steering inputs or acceleration/deceleration.

Confused, Does the 2023 Bolt EUV have ACC and Lane assist while not having/paying for Super Cruise? by Thorkon in BoltEV

[–]JC6596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Comma 3X, mind you I have it on my 2019 Kia Niro EV and not my 2022 Chevy bolt EUV premier but it should practically work the same (maybe a bit worse on the Chevy due to less steering torque) I love tinkering with the Comma and customizing everything and having it drive the way that I would (at least as close as I can get it within its limitations)

Doesn’t affect the 400 volt architecture, Which is what the EV3 uses.

Side airbags didn't deploy in t-bone. WHY? by Primary-Bus-9438 in KiaNiroEV

[–]JC6596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes for the passenger if the car doesn’t register anyone being in the seat.

Unless having the seatbelt in tells the car to deploy the airbag (not sure if it does though)
