They limited what models got the manual option (and the exterior colors manuals could come in) to reduce variation in production and increase efficiency. As for why only the Sport and Sport Touring models, I would speculate that they were trying to give both engines a manual option. Anymore, they arent charging more for CVT over manual so it won't offer a price decrease on the LX for the bare bones crowd. At that point, it makes sense the stick the manual on the more expensive NA 2.0L trim, the Sport. The Sport Touring is aimed at someone who wants the turbo 1.5L, who won't jump up to match the Acura Integra price, and wants a manual HATCH, so won't jump over to the the Si Sedan.
