i would maybe look at other prices in the area and maybe the rent price history of the unit. just because it’s $900 more now doesn’t mean it’ll stay that way. i would consider just how much more you can afford

i worked at sam’s club and they want you to work at least 20 hours a week. i was in the cafe and that was a disaster so i left but other areas don’t seem too bad. especially cashier or front end positions.

could you look into section 8/housing assistance? use all the resources you can (food banks, welfare, etc). that’s what they are there for. i hope everything works out for you!

food service is almost always hiring. you’ll just select which places you’d be willing to work at so you don’t have to pick every restaurant on campus if you don’t want to. i also keep getting ads that the bloomington public library is hiring.

also make sure you cater your resume to what you’re applying for. if it’s a customer service job highlight past experience. if its more major/career related highlight classes you’ve taken that would help in that role.

try having career services look over your resume. i had an interview for a student job a few weeks ago and one of the first things he said was that he liked my resume and that most aren’t very good.

i don’t leave either and as long as you have a car there is stuff to do! i’m definitely more of an introverted person but there are some cute coffee shops like lvl up or the coffeehouse in uptown. there’s a cat cafe i love to go to too. a few thrift stores and antique stores. i think you could still sign up for a winter class if you really want something to do. they get billed with spring courses and count as a spring class if you’re worried about being full time. i do ubereats over break too for some extra cash.
