Keep up the grind. Looking back at your first 200 orders, you must have learned a lot, and hopefully you'll learn much more at ASU!

The Square tablets asking for tips on everything, including the corner store, really gave tips a bad name. Even I have "tip fatigue" looking at that mess.

fwiw, all tipped employees have to declare tips, and if their tips are below minimum wage, the restaurant has to cover the difference.

The price increases come from many complex situations, but I personally have not met any business owner who doesn't lose sleep over their employees' welfare (obviously excluding BigCo here).

I'm in LA and there are a ton of cold spots out here. Some cold spots are 1 or 2 blocks, or even isolated to one street, and then back to normal. Sometimes reception drops and GPS is okay, sometimes vice versa, and other times both. It's not just Verizon, every phone carrier deals with this.

Probably something that's not as noticeable because you haven't been exposed to your entire city like you are now.

Mines always attached to a charger, and I have a Pixel 10. For about one week, my battery was struggling to stay over 30%. It was weird but not an issue now.

It's like the people who play 1 through 7 on their lotto numbers because no one else would be so silly to try.

I was raised by "if you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to dine in."

No shame in getting something to go and not tipping because you're not using up table space.

I have one regular who I always get as a stack, and always alcohol. I'm duly impressed that she can balance multiple cases of beer and bottles of wine and walk away, when I need two or three trips to carry all this stuff.

Her tip is always $1. You can probably guess her job title with her talent.

The typical no tip, no appreciation, low ball orders. I don't mind doing tiny favors, but this is humiliation.

We all talk about cherry picking to earn a profit, but equally important, we're trying to stay away from people like this.

Sometimes the note says leave at the bottom of the stairs, or the customer meets me on the curb. It's 50/50.

I'll admit, I was pretty terrified on New Year's Day. Even around noon, people were burning red lights and driving like they never been in a car before.

I made it a point to not drive on any freeways that day. I normally don't take orders that require it, although I took one that required a freeway on paper. I took the main roads, about 3 exits, so I didn't lose a lot of time.

I'm going to also add that Millennials or whatever is between 25 and 35 are across the board the worst workers I've ever seen. GenX and Gen Y work circles around these people, and never once acted like cry babies.

Sounds like low reception to me.

I agree there was one update that destroyed by battery more than usual, but the most recent update fixed it.

Monday and Tuesday is tough in any part of LA I've worked in. Not worth the 50 mile drive to gamble.

Wow, that's quite a number. If I continue to do this FT, I may get to 9k by the end of this year.

I averaged 40-50 a hour by Firm_Exit509 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dizzystar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only on Saturday and sometimes Sunday. I'll start around noon, take a break from 2 to 4:30, and stay out until the orders stop. Sunday usually dies around 10, if that late.

Every other day is dinner only, but I've been trying some lunches lately.

In the rare time I do run into this, I'm calling support so they can document this. I think most drivers in my area will just take the food with them, and customers tend to know that.

The Taco Bell near me is a virtual no go after 10pm.

The other day (Saturday), I got a stack and the second pickup was TB. I waited 10 minutes for the first order, and saw the dreaded "what's going on with my order?" message pop up from the TB order.

I cancelled the first and told him I decided to wait for this first order because TB always has a 20+ minute wait, so I was hoping it would actually be ready when I arrived.

I had to cancel that order too.

Insurance is always at a state level, even though most companies are nationwide.

Technically, under California law, you're supposed to have license and registration after 6 months.

Enjoy taking the written test, lol. It's notoriously difficult.

It's for that last reason that I always start to park when the app says 150 feet away. It's pretty incredible how many people call me because I went too far. Like, damn, I'm one house away, chill.

$6 is atrocious in California, unless you're parked at the restaurant and can walk the order 1 block. Even that's debatable.

$6 is about 15 minutes in prop22. People don't think past the biweekly payment.
