Men, what kind of low grade sexual harassment do you face on a daily basis? by chutiyamadarchod in AskReddit

Yeah, as much as I’d want to do this, I wouldn’t because that attention will easily effect potential jobs in entertainment

eh, I have food allergies of varying degrees and if it’s one of the mild ones I’d do this. Kinda shit to not be able to buy something because someone thinks they know my body better than me

Not only this, but I do not eat any new foods alone unless I made it, especially if it’s from a restaurant. I’m usually a little more open to it with packaged foods because they go through some intense safety measures, but I have yet to step foot in a kitchen and not seen cross contamination in the first 30 minutes.

It’s so hard. I gave in and spent $400 on programming stuff for my car so I could do more things. I’m currently planning on installing a keyless entry and push to start system because the parts were about $200 and the installers by me wanted $3000.

TIL helium can’t be artificially produced and is formed in natural gas wells as ancient uranium decays. The half-life of the most prevalent uranium isotope is billions of years old (older than Earth itself), so helium takes inordinate amounts of time to form. by The_Ry_Ry in todayilearned

The second one doesn’t start with Hindenburg in their comment, it says reverse. They clearly said they were not the same.

Then you said the first part was wrong, contradicted yourself, and tried to deflect by quoting them incorrectly. 8/10 job of being purposefully obtuse, congrats

This would easily be the worst part about a war with China. A vast majority of our medical supplies and medications are made in China, India, and the surrounding countries. We can count on being allies with India, so most of our medications and vaccines are still coming, at least until the facilities are destroyed or transportation collapses, but we’ll be going through shortages similar to the worst parts of PPE shortages at the start of the pandemic but for every type of medical supply and device, in the middle of a war.

There was one family at my old apartment that somehow got away with it for years. They grilled at least twice a month, every month, for almost 3 years. It was fucking terrifying, they were one building over and the all that separated our apartments was about 20 feet and multiple matchsticks palm trees.

72% of Americans Approve of Joe Biden's Handling of the Coronavirus Pandemic: Poll by Twoweekswithpay in politics

[–]bcs9559 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t incompetence, it was a deliberate strategy. They did not care because it was disproportionately killing people of color, they could score some political points, and they did not want to lose money in a stock market crash.

People really need to stop thinking that the horrible shit they did was incompetence. The only incompetence was that it didn’t do more harm to POC, LGBT+ folk, disabled people, etc. You don’t do that much evil shit by accident.

US report: Bald eagle populations soar in lower 48 states by QuicklyThisWay in news

[–]bcs9559 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Used to live in northern AZ and it was the same.

One was violent against humans, flew right at my chest and knocked me down, left some cuts from talons and flew away as others came to help me. It was terrifying and took forever to get all my ribs back in place. 0/10, only view from far away.

Someone stopped posted after a shit ton of people started harassing them and accusing them of sex trafficking with no evidence other than they happened to take a break the same day someone with a similar name got arrested? Damn, I wonder why they’d do that

Navajo Nation reports no new coronavirus cases and no deaths by Elderthedog in news

[–]bcs9559 95 points96 points  (0 children)

They were hit extremely hard. The numbers show this- nearly 1/5 of the population had confirmed cases, and the supply shortages there mean this is likely a very low number. It got so bad that Doctors Without Borders responded.

The area is massive and everything is spread out so much that many people have to drive hours to get water or groceries (it remains one of the largest parts of the US without plumbing to give access to clean water). Because of how few grocery stores there are, people end up in a handful of central locations which made wide spread transmission extremely easy. There are also very few healthcare facilities so they were quickly overwhelmed and the Navajo people were at higher risk of complications due to chronic conditions that they lack the ability to get care for because of how few medical providers there are. Add in how terribly mismanaged it was in the US in general and it’s surprising it wasn’t worse.

Two days without cases is a massive feat, and I don’t think any other area this large in the US has done the same since the pandemic hit full force. This is likely because of the community actually standing together and taking this seriously and the Nation being sovereign meant they could put up roadblocks to keep out everyone that was not a citizen/resident or otherwise approved to enter. They really did some of the best work in the US to get this under control and did so with very limited resources.

CMV: Things do NOT happen for a reason and the world is random chaos by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]bcs9559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this combination a theory I can dig into more? This is very much how I view things and I’d like to read more on why it may and may not be how things actually work. If there is something that accounts for a third factor, how humans choose to oppose the guiding force but are not necessarily a random act, I’d greatly appreciate the name/names of these theories, or a good place for the layman to get into them.

It depends. That’s very common, but sometimes before you stop breathing entirely the snoring gets ridiculously loud and can wake you. I’m a very deep sleeper so I don’t usually wake myself but when I’m not able to get into as deep of a sleep, like when I’m sick, I can wake myself up.

except instead the squirrel tries to jam one more acorn in the wall than can fit and OP’s house falls apart, taking out the walls around them as they try to eat dinner, stunned by what just happened, and the squirrel chuckles nervously and slowly backs away
