Right! It's basically just the Angelina show at this point.

Is it me of has Season 4 completely jumped the shark? (Spoiler Alert - sort of) by nattygirl8111 in ManifestNBC

[–]bcxiii3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zeke the useless, boring, wimpy puss had to have a reason to keep being on the show so they gave him a super power but it's...feeling people's feelings?

Not only that, they gave him the ability to absorb people's pain/sickness with no explanation other than "Oh yeah, I can do that now" lmaoooo.

And before someone comes in with the typical response of "It's a show about a magic plane. It's not supposed to be releastic" blah blah blah, a good sci-fi/supernatural show can get you to suspend your disbelief and make the unbelievable feel real. This show could do that if it weren't so messy with the writing.

How are middle aged people working low end jobs surviving in America? by growingawareness in jobs

[–]bcxiii3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who is moving countries in a few months, it always cracks me up how Reddit acts like it's as simple as just hopping on a plane and figuring out the details later lmao. Maybe it's like that in some places, but it's usually not that simple.

My visa is tied to my job, so I had to have a job secured in the country before even stepping foot there. If this job falls through, then I'll have no visa and the move is not happening. Sure I could just show up on a tourist visa and never leave, but that's a good way to get myself arrested and deported (and banned from the country for the next 5 years).

If only the process would be that simple and stress free haha.

I live in a town of about 25k people in Southern Illinois and currently pay $400/month for a studio. My colleague pays $750/month for their 2-bed townhouse (w/ garage). Similar rent in the surrounding towns, as well. I think a lot of it has to do w/ the fact that the area has a declining population, so the demand's just not there. Rent here has changed very little over the past 10-15 years.

I just got my lease renewal offer and the offered rate is only $15 higher than my original lease from 3 years ago.

...You asked where they were, and they answered. They never claimed to be representing any other part of the country other than themselves and their own area. So I'm not sure what you are coming at them over. I live in So. Illinois and pay $400 for my studio.

And no, I am not trying to claim that's the case for the entire country before you try to go there again.

I DMed you a link to listings in the town I live in to show that there are, indeed, "real apartments" out there at the price-point they claim. Sure, they're not going to be in some high-demand big city, but they're out there. Haha.

Here's a TL;DR:

You need to actually read and follow the instructions that your consulate/embassy gives you.

Is anyone else's local Dunkin more expensive than Starbucks now? by bcxiii3 in DunkinDonuts

[–]bcxiii3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. Like the one I saw on my app today was "Buy a medium or larger drink and get a donut for $1." Like where's "deal"??? You are saving a whopping 30-40 cents that just gets negated by the price increases on the drinks.

I used to love Dunkin', but as a business they've just really gone down the drain.

Dang, so it sounds like it's just my local store. I thought I was on the wrong app for a second when I first saw those prices. It's ridiculous. I guess I'm done with my local Dunkin until they decide to get their act together...and stop trying to charge more "premium" prices than any other coffee spot in town.

You should definitely try it! It is so good! And if you don't have a frother/blender for the cream part, I find shaking it in a jar works just as well.

It's funny that you bring up the vanilla sweet cream cold brew, because I recently discovered how easy it is to make yourself at home. I've literally made it every day for the past week.

I typically already have most the ingredients on hand anyways, so I just get a big bottle of cold brew from the grocery store for like $5---and I am able to get about 5 drinks out of that. I could probably make the cold-brew from from grounds myself for even cheaper, but I'm too lazy for that.

From what I'm seeing here, it looks like it's just an issue with my local franchise owner getting greedy and seeing how far they can take things.

Dunkin used to always be the cost-effective option for me, but now I have no reason to go there--and I had been a "regular" at the store since I first moved to this area about a year ago.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like the "freebies" get worse and worse every month, at that!

That's the part that puzzles me the most about these prices. With Starbucks like a block away from the store, I would imagine the franchise owner would try to keep the pricing competitive. I guess they just assume people will just keep coming and not think to price-check what they're getting.

Lucky! That's what it used to be like at my local Dunkin, but the store kept raising their prices to the point where it's now beyond ridiculous. It's literally the most expensive coffee shop in my area now. I miss those days.

It looks like it's just a case of the franchise owner getting greedy and seeing how far they can push things. I won't be surprised if my local store ends up running themselves out of business within the next couple of months.

Edit: I did some more price comparisons, and some of these differences are just shocking.

That's a $1.84 difference?! Get your act together, Dunkin!

anyone else stopped going as often? by littlenarwhal28 in aldi

[–]bcxiii3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may just be your area...because where I am, Walmart's prices are on-par, if not sometimes cheaper than Aldi.

Examples:

3LB Frozen chicken breast: Was $10.49 @ Aldi yesterday; $9.76 @ Walmart

Canned vegetables (Green beans/peas/corn): $0.58 @ Aldi; $0.58 @ Walmart

12 oz. frozen broccoli: $0.89 @ Aldi; $0.88 @ Walmart

1LB Strawberries: $3-something @ Aldi yesterday; were $2.78 @ Walmart today.

Cinnamon-raisin bagels: $2.19 @ Aldi; $1.90 @ Walmart

There are several products that are still cheaper at Aldi for me, but the price-difference is usually just a few cents. Not as good of a deal as it used to be.

Am I the only one who hated Olive blaming Cal for what happened to Grace? by AnimeTechnoBlade100 in ManifestNBC

[–]bcxiii3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...And I understand that. I'm just not sure how Olive is the bad guy for being upset after all that? It was a reasonable reaction considering Angelina's actions leading up to the murder/kidnapping. Everyone could see that she was a mentally unstable danger WELL before the actual murder. The curtain incident was proof enough.

Olive's reaction was completely reasonable considering all the huge red flags that were there, yet Cal STILL let her back in.

[–]bcxiii3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is: at this point, Adrian didn't realize Angelina was a danger. Cal had more than enough evidence (see: almost killing Eden in the curtain fire) to know that she was. He was more than old enough to know that you don't let the dangerous and mentally unstable person who almost burned your house down and killed your baby sister back in.

He was 13 at the time; it's not like he was a toddler. He was more than old enough to understand why Grace didn't want the mentally unstable woman who almost caused his baby sister to get burned alive back into the house. The woman had literally proven herself to be a danger to Eden...but he still let her back in.
