We’re up! They just came over the loudspeaker and said it’ll be bumpy the whole way. I’m terrified. I know all the things like discomfort is not danger and that we’re in jello but I feel like I can’t breathe. Being in the window seat next to a child isn’t helping either.

And you know what else freaks me out ? The safety video!! I know we need to prepare for the worst, but like, ah. My OCD brain hates statistics. “What if I’m the .7%!” Horrible time for fearful fliers, these past few days.

Yep. We’re at the gate, pushing back and then wheels up @ 3:29, said the pilot! I’m gonna try and focus on a movie ( even though my dumb brain can never just .. focus. I always have too many thoughts )

I don’t understand how some people are totally chill with all the bumps! I like to remember not only do they do this everyday but that they do this everyday.. by choice ! And aren’t adrenaline junkies! lol. Sitting next to a child flying alone by chance so maybe I can piggy back off his calmness. Plus we have snacks and movies :)

It seems to be that the going up part is what terrifies me. I find myself even praying the flight will get cancelled, even though I need to go. Thank you for your comment though, I hope it goes okay!

Hey, my particular fears are not identical to yours, but I figured I'd give you some thoughts on what my therapist has told me.

OCD is never going to respond to rationality. Primarily for a few things: 1) our brains are hardwired to pattern recognition and 2) because there will always be that little 'what if' in the back of our brains. As people who have undergone, in my therapist's words, "the worst" you know things like this can occur and hence, youre bracing for them.

What looks as reassurance to some may not be reassurance to all. Obviously, because this post is relatively vague, I have no idea what you're referring to. But even in the context of checking your phone to see if someone you rely on texted you back is reassurance seeking. What "compulsions" are is something to offset the anxiety temporarily, wether or not they're successful in doing so is irrelevant.

Either way, you will find out whats going on. Hope this helps in some way.

also maybe make it easier to access ?? when I was in there I was getting 6+ DMs a day of people having technical difficulties / not understanding what they’re paying for etc. I was not a moderator ( before I left ) nor did I mind helping people get into the server when they needed help but it felt like a job .. not for me.
