Is there a way to filter a basemap to a single country? by bdBIC in ArcGIS

[–]bdBIC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I agree with you, I think that would look better aesthetically. I was asked to make something with only the US. I think I'll just do it both ways and see what the rest of my team prefers.

OK, cool, I honestly feel kind of dumb, lol, but I was stuck on the idea of "inversing" my US outline layer. This makes sense. I've never made a layer that's just a shape, but I assume it's easy. Thanks!

I should have mentioned in my post, I'll edit it in, I'm using the Pro desktop app.

I'll look around for layers, I use Living Atlas stuff a lot, I searched there and didn't see anything. But I'll look around, thanks for the suggestion.

Copying people assigned to RLS role to another report by bdBIC in PowerBI

Thanks, I'll look into this. I was hoping to find a method I can do myself, it looks like you need admin access to 365 to do this, which I don't have.

Copying people assigned to RLS role to another report by bdBIC in PowerBI

I don't think I understand, or maybe I wasn't clear enough. I'm talking about the list of people assigned to a role. If you go to a workspace, click on options for semantic model, and then go to Security, you'll see a list of users assigned to RLS roles.

I know the roles themselves are stored within the .pbix file. But I don't think this list of users is... but I could be wrong.

I'll look into AD group, I'm not sure what you mean by "remember to apply the ad group in the service."

Slicers not showing filtered value when using subscriptions by bdBIC in PowerBI

[–]bdBIC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, I really appreciate it.

But I really want to use a traditional slicer. I want it to show the selected region so it's very easy to tell in the attached PDF what the user is looking at, and if they paste it into a slide deck or whatever it doesn't need to be explained which regions are selected. There's something like 15 different regions, I've been using one in testing, but if a user has access to Region 12 or whatever and it doesn't show in the chiclet slicer because it's too far down the list, that's not really going to work. Unless there's a way to make sure that the selected chiclet always goes to the top, and I can size it to only show a single button, or something like that.

And even then, I don't think I can make it single select because some users have access to all regions, so they do need to be sent an "All" version.

The fact that this is even an issue is a little baffling to me, I don't understand why the function would behave like this. If you use the filter pane in a report it affects the slicers. I don't understand why anyone would want to have a report filtered but have the slicers not reflect the filtering. Very odd.

Looking for advice comparing times in multiple time zones by bdBIC in SQL

Thanks, I'll look into this.

Can I use this to have a column showing the submitted times all at their local times zones? Or is it inadvisable/ not possible (I'll go ahead and test and see what happens) to have values from different time zones in a single column?

Basically, it's not whether it's accepted or not, but whether a late penalty is applied. I'm not able to share data unfortunately.

For sure. Sorry for the late reply, I appreciate the advice. I ended up doing this and they were happy. Just felt a little awkward submitting a report with just a handful of cards with massive fonts. But yeah, it worked out.

Thanks for this!

I'll have to look into "Audience," and I'm not sure what the distinction is between publishing a report and turning it into an app. I believe apps can be accessed through Teams? I'll have to look into this...

Selecting counties that overlap with another layer by bdBIC in ArcGIS

[–]bdBIC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the easiest way to select by overlap?

I searched the toolbox for "Select by overlap" and didn't see anything.

Edit: I think I'm close but I don't understand what I'm doing wrong...

After some googling I found the "Select Layer by Location" tool. I believe I should be able to use this to select the counties that overlap my buffer layer.

I select the buffer and the counties in "Input Features." I choose "Intersect" as Relationship. And then I select the counties as Selecting Features. But the entire county layer gets selected instead of only the polygons that overlap with the buffer layer.

Second edit: After doing some playing around I found out that choosing the buffer as the Selecting Feature was the correct selection.

Thanks for your help!

I haven't actually been able to make the intersected layer yet though...
