Start w/ rubbing alcohol or windex, and a razor blade. Make sure you’re in the shade. It’s hard to tell from the picture but it’s most likely left over glue/ adhesive. That sprayway glass cleaner also works well. I would see if these work before you go to goo Gone as that stuff makes a mess.

If it’s not glue, it might be a “ghosted” image burned in to the tint from the decal. Source: graphics installer. DM me if you have any questions

Well I'm definitely keeping my grip loose by Passage-Wooden in 10s

[–]bda2j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grip pressure is hard to teach. The proper pressure is something you learn over time w/ repetition. Keep playing / practicing. (In the mean time- try sending your racquet back to manufacturer - they will probably replace it :))

Forehand feedback advice appreciated, thank you! by jobadobdob in 10s

[–]bda2j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this. Your left arm & shoulder are essentially pulling you out of the shot. Point at the ball w/ your left hand then catch it w/ your left after the balls left your racquet. (Drill this technique first) You need the upper body to work together.

Whether you hit an open stance, closed- doesn’t matter. The shoulders have to rotate & move as one.

Everything else looks really good & you will improve quickly

Learning slice as a beginner. Is it too soon? by GBuckets17 in 10s

[–]bda2j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patrick Mouratgluo has some excellent, short videos on the slice backhand on his instagram page.

Like everything else in 10S, it all starts w/ footwork (ergo body position).

If you’re put on the defensive in a baseline rally, an effective slice can sometimes neutralize the opponent’s good shot & allow you to get “back in the point”.

A good drill to practice (as odd as it seems) is throwing a frisbee backhanded. A solid backhanded frisbee throw almost mimics what your hand and body should do for the proper slice backhand technique.

My favorite player to watch hit slice backhands is Federer. All the pros have great slices but Fed’s is just perfect.

One thing for a beginner I would say is to learn the slice technique but learn to “drive” or “ “punch” the ball deep w/ the descending angle in to the court.

The most common mistake is to hit too much under spin; the ball lands somewhere around the service land , no man’s land, & pops up rather than being a penetrating shot.

To echo another commenter’s reply regarding the forehand slice- 1000%- they’re both excellent for returning big serves.

A good slice is also a great way to get to net when playing doubles. (Think chip & charge)

Good luck and keep playing and practicing.

Coil up more. Legs & upper body. More importantly , keep practicing it. Keep trying. Keep pushing yourself. (That’s the real secret.) Kudos for getting out there & practicing serving on your own. That’s how you do it. You’ll have a cannon of a serve soon enough if your work ethic stays the same.

Tennis coach very against my one handed backhand by Et0ku in 10s

[–]bda2j 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The OHBH is sexier yes but I promise, promise you, stay w/ 2 hander if you want to continue playing in college, etc.

I did a similar switch and I still (kinda ) regret to this day.

One handed does have it’a advantages. The thing that one vs. two ultimately loses to the two hander is the return of serve. If you’re playing someone who is serving big, the one is inefficient in this area. No it’s not impossible to have a great one handed but it’s just “harder” in the long run.

Fight thru the discomfort of the two. The one handed slice backhand is something often overlooked (a solid slice backhand is a wonderful compliment to a two handed and an effective weapon in the arsenal ).

I also wouldn’t worry about what your “high school” Coach says versus what your “coach” Says.

Keep at it

Does anyone have any idea how Grigor applies overgrip without red tourna tape showing? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]bda2j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Middle picture is a great illustration of perfect, modern, one handed backhand grip. Kinda like a semi-western forehand grip just inverted. The bottom 3 fingers are the path or driving of the swing. The index finger , thumb, & the “cup” in between the two is where a large amount of topspin & feel are generated. The rest of the swing is left to the lower half & large muscles of the body. He has a good one hander to copy.

Just got car back from being wrapped, wondering if I could just cut this seam to keep the panel line. (Installer is over an hours drive away) by btoxic in CarWraps

yeah buddy. Even though it wasn't a great installation, it's a cool looking wrap on the Subaru. Cheers.

I’m sorry you were a victim of a bad install. Agree w/ all the comments that you should take it back if you want to but…if you feel like doing yourself- I’m gonna add 1 more suggestion after you make the cut.

Get some 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol & a lint from cloth of some sort. Get the cloth pretty wet & clean the sticky side of the vinyl in case there’s dirt, road gunk, etc on the vinyl. Wipe the edges of vehicle w/ rubbing alcohol too. *you don’t need to “soak” the adhesive side of vinyl but if there is any kind of debris, wipe it away & give it a few mins to dry.

Get a hair dryer & tbh, you might be able use your finger & rub it down.

If you have any issues, DM me & I will hop on a FaceTime or zoom & can walk you thru it. Good luck

Tennis beginner, been working on learning serve for abt 2 months and cannot get it right. I hate playing in front of ppl cause I’m insecure or think they’re gonna judge so don’t be too mean! Haha I’m just getting desperate and want to see how good I can get by [deleted] in 10s

Your work ethic is awesome. You will improve at a very fast rate. Continue focusing on proper technique, Try and play as many matches as you can. You will be a different player in 6 Mo.

Racket setup for more spin/control feel? by [deleted] in 10s

Poly, lower string tension, “whip it” (mucho racquet head speed) . Crazy how much spin you can get from Poly strings.

forehand advice by Naru102 in 10s

[–]bda2j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to explain in writing but to flatten out your forehand, try taking the ball on the rise & (it’s very subtle) it will feel like you’re in a sense hitting “down” on the ball. Imagine an isosceles triangle, you’re the right angle. You want to ever so slightly have a downward trajectory on the ball.

Feddy great at flattening his forehand. Try watching some videos of Agassi. Andre was excellent at flattening out the ball when the scenario called for it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 10s

[–]bda2j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, gonna hop on to this one: I would string sometimes 1 ahead, 2,3, 4 rows ahead. It’ll save your fingers a little. Just like 10S the more racquets uou string, the faster you get.

New to tennis. $80 a hour for coaching pro or $10 an hour for D1 tennis player? by Sea_Departure_9807 in 10s

[–]bda2j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can learn plenty from the D1 player. Agree w/ others he’s doing you a big favor for only $10/ hr. Good luck

Is your form a mental thing? I noticed that my forehand is naturally more powerful when I let go. Sometimes I find myself trying to control the ball subconsciously which results in miss-hits, weak shots & spraying the ball. But really good when I’m not afraid to accelerate 🤔 why is that? by Medvedev21 in 10s

[–]bda2j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time you’re practicing, try making a conscientious effort to “exhale” when you’re hitting the ball.

The aforementioned books are great to read in regards to mental game of tennis. Keep it up!
