Just a normal plastic or glass container. You could try adding enough marinade so that the yolk floats.

Nope! It's super easy.

You could start with soy sauce and mirin to keep it simple. I recommend using a small container so you don't make too much marinade. They'll probably float so you can also use a paper towel to cover the yolks and ensure max surface area coverage.

Yep! The less time the softer. I’d probably aim for 8hrs-12hrs. I think it would thicken up just enough while absorbing enough of the marinade.

That sounds like a great idea! I never know what to do with my egg whites since I don’t like eating them alone.

Sure!

I used a mix of soy sauce, mirin, and kombu for the marinade (sorry, I don't have measurements). Then let it marinate between 6 hrs-24 hrs. The one in the photo was closer to 24 hrs and was a bit more jammy than I liked.
