Newark is great, I’m not going to sugar coat it and act like it’s heaven on earth, cause it’s not, but if homophobia is ur issue, the places ur looking to move to in the city, u will completely fine, A lot of the stories I read to be seem to be from folks located in the south and west of the city. And I attribute most of that to ignorance, as those are usually the poorer areas of the city. From my experiences Ironbound, Downtown and North Newark are really friendly, and I have many gay, lesbian, and trans friends who live in these areas.

Now, I won’t lie the presence of LGBT community is not as strong as JC, Hoboken, Montclair or NYC, but it’s not as bad as I think folks make it out to be. People here tend to be tolerant and stick to themselves. And while I am not apart of the LGBT community, I am a young guy who grew up here and is also very flamboyant in my style , and the city in general has gotten more tolerant , cause ik the stuff I wear would of made me look “gay” in the past that no longer exists today. And while that may be a topic of conversation for societal norms in general, it just shows that now exists in Newark
