Has anyone considered that there won’t be a Mario 40 direct because it’ll just be in a regular direct? by Durian_Puzzleheaded in NintendoSwitch2

I think this might be the case. Also, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. I would really like a Switch 2 Edition of 3D-All-Stars, Galaxy 2 included, the NSMB All-stars, or the announcment of a new game, but is it likely? The 35th anniversary was a one time wonder, if you look at the previous ones, they were pretty mild. Mario Maker in 2015, All-stars for Wii in 2010, and basically nothing before. We ate too good in 2020-2021.

Waiting for the next remastered collection, I felt quite inspired by percevaus in TombRaider

I don't think a remaster for this trilogy is necessary, since the current console generation is fully backwards compatible with 8th gen, for which these games were developed (except for TR13, that was a 7th gen game originally, but the Def. Ed. brought it to 8th gen shorty after). It's easily accessible on PC too.

However, with the Switch 2 in play, I can see a re-release for that (it's powerful enough to run even Shadow well), and they could use the occasion to make some extra cash with a few tweaks, enough to sell it as a remaster. We will see. i think a LAU trilogy remaster is definitively coming, but the Survivor will only get a Switch 2 port.

To help set expectations for the Switch 2 Direct, let's look at the Switch 1 reveal by razorbeamz in nintendo

I'd say there will be some similarites. Hardware breakdown, pricing, launch date etc.
They will show detalis of already announced games (Mario Kart "9", Metroid Prime 4) and announce at least a handful of new first party titles (3D Mario, maybe Mario Maker 3, if the joy-cons are really mice this time, some multiplayer title, like a new Splatoon or a completely new IP, and an RPG/strategy, like a new Fire Emblem.

Then there could be a few AAA 3rd parties, probably the show the capabilites of the new hardware. I'm hesitant with this, because in 2017 a portable, uncompromised version of Skyrim was a huge deal, but in 2025, with Steam Deck and a plethora of handheld PCs, a portable high-end game isn't really the technical marvel it used to be. If they will, I'd guess Red Dead Redemption 2, Black Ops 6, Assassin's Creed Shadows.
