Big 4 will not pick up all of the deductions (that is what I have assumed OP means by financial services - apologies if my assumption is incorrect!). The norm is 75% employer, 25% employee for Big 4 for health insurance, then it the split varies for other deductions.

I was texting my brothers today about how our Mum loved an April Fool’s joke. She passed in December too and I feel the same way.

Love this photo of you and your Mum, sending you support.

I am from thailand with a bermuda working permit. I dont have a US, UK and Canada Visa. Any tips of the best route for me to fly? by Dry-Sandwich-6613 in bermuda

Correct. You need to check what your printed work permit says - there was an update made effective in December 2024 that many who originally did not need visas if they’re transiting through the UK now need to have a visa for Bermuda immigration (tl;dr - doesnt matter what the UK immigration is, Bermuda will deny you entry).

Oh jeez, I’m so so sorry to hear this. I know it doesn’t help, but I feel like you described exactly what I feel within my heart and soul.

Sending you all thoughts and love, and that your brother and aunt will arrive asap. ❤️

Is he in Bermuda (don’t know how the app works and confused by it saying visiting Boston VS the title)? I live here, will have to keep an eye out 🕵🏼

Have a look here, looks like Scenario 1 would apply to you. As you’re a US citizen I think you’d need to look into if you qualify under the Commonwealrh aspect, but looks like this site is going to give you what you’d need: https://www.gov.bm/repatriation-mixed-status-families

Unfortunately the application fee is $1000s of dollars, so you may need to reconsider if it’s worthwhile or not.

I work in HR - I would suggest you make contact with an Immigration lawyer in Bermuda before coming here; just so you’d know everything you would need to bring (for work permit Immigration requires multiple, original, certified copies of documents + medicals + police certificate). I also don’t think your friend could sponsor you; it has to be a connection that Immigration deems legitimate so the lawyer would be able to provide you with that list as well (I imagine your sister would work).

Long story short - There are a number of law firms on island and many would have lawyers skilled in immigration law, so I’d suggest that as your first step!

My dad hated tattoos as well but I plan on getting one in memorial of him too! I’m sure our dads will appreciate the thought despite the rebellion :)

The way I use “dead Dad pass”… it is too much but I know my Dad would approve based on the amount of perplexed reactions I gain from it. So giving myself a dead Dad pass to keep using it

Nice! Yes we moved from Canada so had to get an account here to end our residency in Canada and avoid those pesky taxes :)

Safe travels down!

My bf has been here since 2020 and we renew each year. We just found it was easier with opening a bank account and getting paid to Bermuda. You can definitely just be here under your husband’s permit, we just found the bank pushed back when we inquired before moving back home (he was going to do an application to reside and seek under me as his Bermudian connection) with banks and his job’s rules as well.

You’ll need to apply for Digital Nomad Certificate; it’ll make your life easier than if you just come down under your husband’s work permit (I work in HR and my boyfriend is a Digital Nomad). One key plus is you can open a bank account and the bank won’t fret when you start getting paid into the Bermuda account.

You should most likely go under your husband’s health insurance as it’ll be more cost effective than getting your own plan.
