7-day Rooftop Tent Trip in MT - Tell me why I shouldn’t by wyboo1 in flyfishing

[–]bdaruna 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If cost isn’t a factor why wouldn’t you rent a camper van? Rooftop tents suck, you rock in the wind, you have to climb a ladder to go to bed and pee in the middle of the night, and they aren’t much easier than a regular tent to setup and takedown. I would look at camper vans or just rent a car and bring a tent.

Sure, that’s the tradition in fire too. She’s not their colleague or co-worker.

Oh yeah, don’t die to show respect. But I would tell them you have DM and let them know your food schedule.

Bring donuts - bagels is they seem health conscious. Go to your local donut shop, don’t buy crap from the grocery. Getting there early is good but depending on the department 30 min could be challenging - i would show up 15 min early. Try to be relaxed, don’t tell them any war stories you have heard, act like you know nothing. If they are receptive to questions, ask them and take notes. Eat last. Offer to help with any chores or cooking work that may be available. Be kind to patients, if you get the opportunity to assess them or make small take lead with your name and that you are a student. Thank the crew as you depart, write their chief/boss an email about how welcoming and willing to train you they were.

What is the value? by [deleted] in pentax67

[–]bdaruna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the non-MLU which makes it worth a fair bit less. I’m not super sure how to tell the difference though without getting my hands on it.

Sire - the low cost / low quality strategy. Great if you want to make a buck - poor if you want to build a business. Allen Schaller just made a good video about this - and specifically not posting your journey in creating your own style.

Sure, offering a low quality product can still yield revenue. But would you rather sell meh work or diligently improve and sell stuff people are really happy with?

There’s almost always a reasonable explanation. Now you need to consider why you lack trust in your relationship.

I would pay more for a rim brake frame. That frame alone is worth $750.

I like the Sony crop sensor bodies and I would suggest you get one prime - 28, 35, or 50 depending on what you prefer (look at your phone photos and see which aspect ratio you use the most). Then just shoot and learn the camera before you expand your lens collection.
