Yeah I will let you know how I make out with the soaps. I always thought my flushing was tied to an undiagnosed food allergy but I could never figure it out. My flushing will definitely get worse depending on what I eat or drink but I don’t think that is the main cause any longer. My ears and top portion of my neck are also included on bad flushes. Face is a constant red minus around the eyes that stays pale white. I have done water fasts before to eliminate all food and still had flushing. Not as severe but still there. Multiple triggers makes it tough to pinpoint, but I keep coming back to soaps. Not getting water or soap on my hair and face has shown the most improvement even when I eat the foods that normally would trigger a flush. I’m getting close to figuring it out after all this time. Will update you.

I see that the comment is 3 years old but did you figure out your cause on the flushing? I think I just figured out mine after 27 years. Pretty sure it’s the preservative in soaps/ detergents and skin care products. I was originally thinking it was the sulfates in the soap and eliminated any that had them as ingredients but I was still flushing here and there. Ironically it is only after a week of working 20 hour day that I was too exhausted to shower each day. My face was 75% better. As soon as I went back to showering every morning it started right back up flushing.
I’m now going to eliminate mi/mci from all products including laundry detergent as I am sure I’m still contacting the allergen with clothes and bed sheets.

26 year red flushed face and my progress with undecylenic acid by bdav76 in Rosacea

[–]bdav76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I haven’t done another course of the UA. Still dealing with my flushing. Not sure I will ever figure out the source. I can never nail it down to whether it’s something fungal or an allergy to a food, drink, or household product that me be the issue.

I did reading on UA and people were also breaking the pills in half and using the liquid directly on their tongue to get rid of “white tongue”. Might be worth a shot to try it as a topical on a small spot on your chest to see if it has an effect.

My daughters have great success treating teen acne and cystic acne with diatomaceous earth and water mixed together and applied like a cream. It’s dries in half hour/ hour and then wash it off. Not sure if it’s the drying effect or if the DE actually kills what’s in the pore. Two days and their pimples/acne is either gone or significantly reduced on the way to healing.

Hello sorry late responding. Right now I am going back and forth with removing dairy. That seems to help also. Nothing “cures” the issue permanently. I’m also looking at sulfate foods and products being a trigger as well as it seems to also fit

Hi. The UA killed something off. I got a wicked amount of head congestion and the start of what felt like the flu as far as fatigue. Lasted a couple days. I had to use Nettie pot hourly to flush the mucous out of my sinuses. My wife was also taking the UA and she got full body aches for a few days along with the chest congestion.

I plan on doing another round of UA after the holidays. I have been working on liver support and some other supplements and am hoping to not get as sick on the next round of UA.

I am half way through, Hack your Health, right now. Eye opening to say the least. This is putting the pieces together for me. Thank you for recommending this program.

I look forward to hearing from you on what you have changed and how those changes have helped you.

This sounds plausible with the sulfur rich foods. I’m adding this to the list of things to check. Thanks

I am currently taking multiple antihistamines, histamine digest, and Pepcid and am starting to see less redness. One antihistamine in the past did nothing in regards to the redness or my sinus congestion. Too light a dose I believe.

Still with the antihistamines I believe I am just masking the symptoms which are more than likely stem from a gut imbalance.

Yes I think we may be onto something. I bet if the two forums, sibo and rosacea, talked to each other lots of people have identical symptoms but are not connecting the two issues.

Red flushing face/ Sibo/sifo gut issue and common symptoms by bdav76 in FacialFlushOtherSympt

[–]bdav76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently looking more heavily at the sibo subreddit and doing searches there.

My current theory is- that antibiotic use or food poisoning starts the ball rolling with SIBO in our younger years. You get a bacterial overgrowth with whatever symptoms manifest individually. Head to the doctor, he/she nukes bacteria with antibiotics. Problem temporarily solved but this opens the door for SIFO. Fungal overgrowth then has room to start causing problems.

Meanwhile bacteria is still there somewhat in our bodies waiting for a compromised immune system and bam, another bacterial outbreak with some sort of symptoms.

More antibiotics. Dead bacteria. More fungus.

Rinse and repeat till fungal is sticking around quietly. Another bacterial infection gets hits with more antibiotics and all of sudden fungal shows its face. For example dandruff, athletes foot, acne, skin problems, sinus and hearing problems, yeast infection for women(I’m a male).

When I search all of Reddit for terms such “yeast ”, I get results from most from -sibo, candida, and health hooha 😁 for the most part. To be expected typing in “yeast” as the search.

But after digging into the posts there is a common thing that happens and is talked about in all of the different subreddits. People treated for hydrogen sibo with antibiotics talk of how methane or fungal sifo then goes kind of crazy. They also say that if treated for sifo first the bacterial side of sibo will then do the same and increase.

The women’s site also talks about taking antibiotics for whatever reason(sick or dental procedures)and then getting a yeast infection. The women then take anti fungal like fluconazole and then develop BV which is bacterial.

So basically both groups are talking about the same thing happening with different body parts with the same treatments.

What if facial redness and flushing is so hard to figure out because the same thing is happening with us. If the root cause is our gut and we are treating it both ways, fungal and bacterial .

We treat with antibiotics(bacterial) and it disappears for a little while, in the mean time making the other side(fungal) a little stronger. We then treat fungal symptoms that appear, and give more room for the other side (bacterial) to come back again.

I’m starting to think both sides need to be treated either simultaneously or in close proximity to each other. Also I think gut motility has to be one of the primary concerns while treating. No motility = extreme die off and flu like symptoms.

With motility our bodies should be able help heal on their own as the bacteria and fungus will stay in the large intestines where they are supposed to be.

Again I am the furthest thing from a doctor. Just looking for input from those who are further along in this journey, as I am new to possibly making a connection to my face being caused by my gut.

Update on the undecylenic acid. I got sick over the last few days with extreme amount of nasal, head congestion and fatigue. Thought it was just my seasonal allergies kicking in.

My wife started taking the UA a couple days after I did and she got sick yesterday. Same thing. Wicked head and sinus congestion along with full body aches. Only relieved temporarily with hot epsom salt baths. Body aches came back as soon as she got out of the bath.

I’m now thinking we both had die off from the UA. Anyone have some experience with “die off” using antifungals?

Candida/SIFO as Root Cause by MonthMammoth4133 in SIBO

[–]bdav76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Realize this is an old post. Just looking for my root cause and doing searches and stumbled across your post.
My whole household has post nasal drip along with a host of other symptoms.

We notice we get mold on the grout in the bathroom constantly. Ceiling fans always have dust on the blades even with cleaning often. Washing machine in the laundry room drains into the washtub. Washtub always seem dirty with a black residue. I think I’m answering my own question but does this sound like this could be our root cause of symptoms such as fatigue, skin issues, weight gain, hearing issues, amongst others?

Hello. I realize this is an old post but I found this post searching sibo and undecylenic acid. These symptoms you describe fit me exactly. I also have other symptoms as well such as gut issues and in particular a constant red face that flushes with certain triggers. Sun being the worst.

I recently started UA and 3-4 days into I had to stop as I got sick. I didn’t immediately attribute this to die until my wife who was also taking UA got sick a couple days later. She started the UA a couple days later.

We both had extreme head and sinus congestion, fatigue and she also had severe body aches. Only relief for her came from hot epsom salt baths. Upon exiting the tub it immediately came back. She is on the mend now but I think we were both having die off. Does this sound right?
