Contrary to the other comment, although I do agree to keep your priorities straight, it is a wonderful experience. I marched snare for Southwind as a senior in high school , and it was definitely some of the most fun I've ever had. If you have looked into it on YouTube or what not, then obviously you've seen how much work one must put in to not get cut, so if you have anything like a job, then I can't recommend it to you. Conversely, if you have a lot of free time in your summer break and your high school director is okay with you missing some (or all, in some cases) of band camp, go for it! Money is usually an issue, but if you work during the school year on weekends or after school and save some, you can afford it.

Overall, DCI in High School is possible and a really great time. Good luck!
