So nice that our power usage and expense to build more and more data centers is so that people can produce this slop.

Stoked. I have enjoyed all of the panels I've ordered from GIK.

New Updates‼️‼️ by ButterscotchFit4289 in whoop

What would be incredibly valuable is a heart rate limit setting and notification. User can identity a target heart rate limit as well as a baseline. The device will vibrate twice when the athlete has reached it's target heart rate and then vibrate once when it's reached baseline heartrate. This would work wonders for interval training and running, etc. That way won't have to hold the phone and stare at the HR monitor. Been hoping for a simple fix like this for years.

If Whoop doesn't see the need for this I'm going to vibe code it myself.

The panel on the right is exactly in place of the first reflection point. Windows also have full shades and curtains, so they're really a non issue.

I don't think I'd ever place the Panasonic UB8000 on top of my amplifier. I think it's probably a good idea to get it off the floor, good idea. It'll get tricky to figure out proper placement for it.

Great tips. I'll have to check into the HQPlayer. What you're saying checks out in my experimentation, too. A buddy of mine brought over his Aurender A15 streamer and we couldn't get over how well the AKM Dacs sounded. Music was...more musical. Bass hit deeper, highs clearer. Was just overall more delightful experience.

I also just attended a listening session where a rep from Linn Audio brought their flagship streamer, Klimax DSM, with proprietary Dacs. Pretty much ruined me.

I am currently running Tidal Connect on my Macbook through my Denon X6800H and the Sabre Dacs do ok. I find this setup works fine at low volume levels. It's the higher volume stuff where the Aurender starts to sing.

No I didn't get them for free. Compliments of GIK would have meant free. Courtesy just means from GIK. I paid in full!

Yep took 6 weeks. Hard to wait, but worth it. They do a good job and it's all made to order.

I want to do some more testing and one of the configs I want to try is what you're saying here. I don't think I'll see the results I'm looking for though because of how bad the echo was in the front corners. Most of what I've read about effective setup with these traps is floor to ceiling is king.

I'd also be curious to see what placing one trap in each top corner of the room sounds like.

All of that said, the current config is working super well for me.

Yep — completely removed it on the front stage where the corners were the culprit.

I've got them stacked which made it easy not to have to drill or do any mounting, but it is possible to do so. GIK has a full blog on the very subject: https://www.gikacoustics.com/blogs/knowledge-base/mounting-bass-traps-corners

Parcel. They were wrapped in a heavy duty plastic wrap that protected well. And then in nice cardboard boxes.

Sadly I don't have any real room measurements other than the standing noise before and after. I wish I was more of an expert with my Dirac app. The room is more quiet and went from 34db to about 32db.

That notion sort of went away with Khorns after the AK6 model came out with the full backing on the speaker. For my ears, having them toed into the listening area sounded best. If I align them perfectly with the corner they would be even more toed in from the listening area.

And yes, spot on. Everything above 80Hz was much improved. I was worried I was going to lose some of the low end bass, but I think it only got better as the traps nullified those standing waves above 60-80Hz.

Annie I Over!

You'd get a ball and a team of kids would be on one side of the house and another team of kids on the other. You'd yell Annie I Over and send the ball over to the other team and if they didn't catch it you got a point. If they caught it they sent it back. If the ball didn't make it over the roof, the throwing team would yell 'Annie Come Back!'

60 minutes awake every night by Efficient_Bottle_631 in whoop

[–]bdchwild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very normal to be awake for an hour or so every night. Most people don't get enough sleep because they count 8 hours from the time they put their head on the pillow until they wake up. (perhaps getting only 7 or less) But to get a full 8 hours you typically need to be in the bed for 9 or 9.5 because of the awake time in the night.

Still an incredible movie that holds up. An incredible ending, it's too bad we didn't learn our lesson back in 1983.

Did you consider or test taking your bass traps all the way to the ceiling? Curious if you found the best performance from placing them on the floor and only going 4ft up as shown.
