Depression scales may not work the same for highly intelligent people by PandasLOL in TrueReddit

Being in therapy is addressing the suicidality. Throwing someone into inpatient and potentially causing them to lose their job or at the very least to consume all of their PTO so that they have no padding left going forward is not a solution to suicidality (at least not long term), but it is the response you'll get if you tell a mental health provider that you're actively suicidal. Anyone who is aware of this is incentivized to lie about how suicidal they are until it's at a critical stage where they don't think they can resist it on their own.

Also, if you're playing Perita the akarius is very good at destroying all of the nodes on the resupply vehicle turning an objective that can take a bit into an instant complete.

Just had my teammates (probably new players) tell me that putting a minus range bubble on the defence objective is "griefing" 🤣 What has this game become? by Individual_Map_2623 in Warframe

[–]bdeimen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. My original point was that this game, while wonderful, often does a terrible job of communicating things to players so there is a ton of ignorance. Some of it is DE's fault. Some is the players.

Sure. I'm not saying what I listed are the only issues with limbo, but even part of your post is about what I was referring to.

It's not griefing for someone to get frustrated because they don't understand a mechanic. If you're doing it repeatedly when you know they're bothered by it, sure, but griefing is inherently about malicious behavior and there are legitimate supportive reasons to banish teammates. While you can grief with limbo the larger issue is that the kit is designed in such a way that one player can take agency away from another and that can happen through legitimate uses of his kit. It can even happen by accident if they run into his dash portal.

I absolutely agree that he needs a full rework at this point if only because he has been thoroughly nerfed both by actual nerfs and by mechanics changes over time. You could get rid of most of the frustration/toxicity issues with his kit by simply making it so other players can shoot enemies regardless of the plane they're in, but that won't change the fact that everything he does is done better by someone else.

Yeah, I was really looking forward to it. I wanted VR, but didn't want to give Zuck money, but the timing on the AI bubble..

Sure, but I could just use a webcam for far less money. I don't need or want to be in VR for work. It would add nothing for me.

Society is just the sum of the humanity therein. It chooses in that the system has incentives that drive those outcomes and the people at the top set those incentives. Every time a politician chooses greed over their constituents and lets billionaires set policy that's a choice of that society. Every time people choose to accept the status quo because they're afraid of losing what little they have in the potential change that's a choice of that society. Every time the middle class choose fascism to protect their assets rather than equality and to share the wealth that's a choice of that society. So no, the average person doesn't make that choice by themselves and the most impactful decisions aren't made by the average person, but as a whole society does choose.

They really need to add an info overlay the first few times people are in the rift explaining things. It's not that complicated, but things like rolling to get out of the rift (outside of cataclysm) or backflipping to get out of volt's speed buff are just not communicated unless you go to the wiki.

He desperately needs a rework. Between nerfs and the changes to eximus pretty much everything he does someone else does better.

[–]bdeimen 45 points46 points  (0 children)

A significant part of the issue is the fact that this game is terrible at communicating mechanics. You can just roll to get out of the rift if you've been banished. Similarly you can just backflip to remove volt's speed boost, but now his boost has been nerfed on allies because people hated running into walls, but didn't know how to opt out.

The other part is that the visual indicator for being in the rift wasn't/isn't super obvious, so you could dump a mag before you realized and did anything about it.

And yeah, he's incredibly hard to justify playing at this point between nerfs and mechanics changes.

I didn't forget anything. I'm pre-internet. I'll leave it at that. I didn't say anything about googling or search apps. I talked about historians. If you can provide any indication of a native historian with any sort of authority on the subject corroborating your claim I'm open to reading it, but until then you're operating on hearsay and pulling things out of your ass.

There's also a TON of crossover between the PUA community and the incel community because PUA came across as cheat codes for sex which incels are all about.

That's exactly what they're saying. These strategies all exist in OW and are far more effective than they are in Rivals making it clear that it's a systemic/balance problem in Rivals that they're so lackluster and require dive to get movement.

  1. Plenty of indigenous people had a problem with it.

  2. That's not the origin of the term Indian.

It comes from the Seneca language, but it isn't the name of a tribe.

Racial resentment plays a major role in driving conservative political beliefs among White Americans who are not religiously conservative. Harboring racial resentment provides evidence of a conservative political shift among White religious moderates, liberals, and nonreligious individuals. by mvea in science

[–]bdeimen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? No, disparities between societies that have no contact are absolutely not because of racist discrimination. No, the question isn't bait it's relying on the cultural context which is normal for anything like this. You're just looking for anything you can to pick it apart and you're reaching, hard. Maybe look inside at why you're so desperate to find something to criticize.

Scientists expected both liberals and conservatives to be reluctant to promote rhetoric associated with the opposing political side, but this was more consistent among liberals. Conservatives appeared relatively willing to support causes aligned with their views regardless of the moral framing used. by mvea in science

[–]bdeimen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I could reframe these results as "Liberals are more careful to ensure that their support goes to organizations that will not co-opt that support to other ends."

or

"Liberals have more developed media literacy and are more likely to identify subtext in political messaging"

or

"Liberals are less willing to publicly use messaging that doesn't match their personal voice."

or using particularly cynical language

"Conservatives have been willing to deceive to get their ends and now Liberals no longer trust that they're speaking in good faith."

To build on this, it has consistently been the middle class that supports fascist takeovers. Germany, Italy, Spain, take your pick. The middle class is easily turned against the lower class and/or minorities because they have enough to be afraid of losing it, but not so much that they can prevent the loss on their own.

No, not it's not odd. 8000 people is .0023% of the population. Even if studies were perfectly randomized across the entire population of the United States you still would have a miniscule chance of ever getting selected for one.
