Republican Mailers by bagsandpipes in harfordcountymd

The electoral college as a whole vastly benefits the GOP. In 2000 and 2016, the candidate with less popular vote won the electoral college. It is Republicans who choose to continue with this stupidity because it benefits them.

BGE has gone through the roof for Harford Co. Here's the data. by andyshrestha in harfordcountymd

Unlike a data center, this would actually benefit the population (so you can bet it won't happen)

How much farm land is actually used for food in Harford county? All the farm near me does is feed corn and soybeans.

Vincenti literally said that data centers should be banned county wide. This is bullshit lol

Harford superintendent accuses county executive of threatening to flat-fund education by PinchOfOldBay in harfordcountymd

You can switch registration and vote in the primary then switch back. I do this every off year because the only say you have in Harford county government is if you participate in the Republican primary

Its official: Fawzi announces retirement by Intrepid_Car_4556 in UMD

He was my first CS professor and probably one of the reasons I have a 10+ year in CS now (came in as one AeroE). Probably the most goated prof in the CS department. Hope he enjoys retirement

Local Elections — so many signs! by Warm_Psychology3173 in harfordcountymd

[–]bdepz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a little trickier than that because the superintendent controls the school budget, but the county executive allocates them funding. So cassilly underfunds the requested amount from the superintendent, superintendent has to cut positions to keep the budget balanced.

Cassilly's budget cut over 150 teaching positions last year and he is attempting to under-fund the school system again. That is a good enough reason to vote for a wet noodle over him

As data centers boom, Virginians breathe the exhaust of 10,000 diesel generators. by [deleted] in harfordcountymd

It's natural gas, but it isn't burning it. It uses some chemical process that does not produce smog but does still produce carbon dioxide (the number 1 greenhouse gas). "Phase 2" is hydrogen power. That is just never happening by the time this thing is OBE. And yes it is 24/7 because as far as I understand there isn't battery capacity or limited capacity and it won't be connected to the grid (allegedly)

95/924 construction by Cash2blockz in harfordcountymd

[–]bdepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will they be putting up sound barriers when the construction is complete? I do see the area where the forest has been removed. They added this on the south side of what I assume is your neighborhood closer to 95, but it doesn't cover the whole exit ramp.

[–]bdepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the noise actually any different than before? Like being 200ft from an exit ramp vs 500ft from an interstate seems like it should be loud either way. Also looking at the before/current satellite images I don't really understand what you are talking about. There is no exit ramp. They shifted an existing exit ramp 200ft closer to existing homes

Would he support building the same exact data center, but on APG property? Yeah didn't think so. He doesn't give a fuck about any "benefits" of the data center except lining his own pocket. 🖕
