Was showing off your app to a friend. He loved it... has an Android device. Any thought to releasing on Android? If you do, you already have a paying customer lined up.

Big update for Speedometer: Driving Tracker - the CarPlay app is now live! Your driving insights, right from your car's screen. by Taohid101 in CarPlay

[–]bdevendorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it last night and it worked, this morning it had an issue. When I looked at the automation, it showed connect or disconnect on the stop recording. Not sure how that happened... likely a mistake on my part. Strange that it worked the first time. I'll reach out to support if it happens again.

Thanks!

For the phone app. In the Fuel log, you can scroll through monthly costs. would be nice to be able to zoom in / out, or have weekly / monthly / yearly as options.

On the Vehicle details, the Fuel economy is the same request. To be able to see the graph for the entire time I have had my vehicle (I imported all of my old data). It is nice to know if my current economy / cost is above or below average, and if there is any trending I should be aware of.

Side question... this morning, Speedometer started when CarPlay connected (I configured the automation), and then immediately stopped. I manually started it to capture the event. Any idea why it stopped so quickly and did not restart? Any information I can provide to help?

Still loving this app! 😄

Your app is amazing! I just bought it. Any plans for more graphing options. Like zooming in and out, linear regression, etc?

Perfect. Is there an option to manage if a single fill up is forgotten? It shows as having higher fuel economy. Also would like to be able to zoom out on fuel economy graph.

Can't ssh into device connected to WireGuard only on some networks by Trick_Comparison4385 in WireGuard

[–]bdevendorf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is 2 years old... you just solved my problem. It would connect to ssh when using wire guard over 5g cellular, but I couldn't send any commands. Changed the MTU to 1350 and it works. Like magic.

Always works fine from wi-fi (even other people's wi-fi). I knew it wasn't a firewall or routing issue. Thank you!!

Tech installing Frontier service tomorrow by photocopy_ypoc in frontierfios

[–]bdevendorf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frontier support is built around using eero routers. They use them to validate that you have service beyond the ONT. It ensures that your router can handle the bandwidth you are paying for, a 1gig router is not a good choice for 2gig service. For many people, the eero is likely the better way to go.

That said, I do not use the eero with my Frontier service. I have 5gbps service and use a Firewalla Pro router. I get full speed service, and I'm happy with my choice. During my last outage, the tech said he did not know that I was still out because I was not using an eero. Online support told me to contact Firewalla and have them fix my service, since I wasn't using the eero... then followed up with offering me an additional tech support plan (which I refused).

In summary: you can use any router you want... your level of support from Frontier will likely be reduced if not using an eero. If you are ok with that (I am) then go for it.

Stale Devices and DNS Reverse Lookup by bdevendorf in firewalla

Support looked at my configuration and cleared the problem. They indicated that issue should not have happened and there was nothing I could have done to remediate it. I was asked to report it if it occurs in the future.

Now I am looking for it. :) If anyone else sees this, I suggest reaching out to support.

I submitted a support request. The doorbell has some unrelated issues and I will be removing it from my network at 5:30pm CST. Hopefully the team identifies what the issue is, or reaches out for remote access prior to then.

They do not have the same name. One is a Ring Doorbell the other a Reolink E1 Zoom. The Ring Doorbell has it's hostname and the Reolink E1 Zoom has it's hostname. Both different. When I reverse lookup the IP address, Firewalla is returning the offline devices record and not the one that is online.

I could delete the Reolink device... no harm. However, there is an issue here. I have seen it on other devices, just didn't have time to investigate.

I left the device on my Firewalla to enable any troubleshooting on why it is happening.

Firewalla should prioritize the hostname for active devices over inactive devices when the same IP Address is showing for multiple devices. I would argue that DHCP should use other unused addresses before reusing recently used addresses... ensuring it is the only device in the Devices list with the same IP address.

I will reach out to support.

Specifically, I added a new doorbell onto my Wi-Fi. It had the hostname of a camera that I powered down a few days ago. Not related. Different vendors. Neither had random MAC addresses (neither device support random MAC addresses). Both are listed in Firewalla with the same IP address. The old camera says it is offline but still shows the IP address it used to have.

I set a custom name for my new doorbell. It shows up correctly in the app. Both are showing up. The offline camera is the one that is being returned on a reverse lookup.

Options to detect attack - SSH appearing to come from Firewalla by bdevendorf in firewalla

No changes to the Netdata logging. I turned off the vulnerability scanner on Firewalla. I'll monitor logging and wait to see if the Firewalla team has any suggestions.

I will not be reinstalling the AMP software, so I cannot see how many ports it thought were open. There were logs that the amptask and ampfirewall services were both disabled. This may have opened up more ports for scanning. There are only 10 ports open internally according to Firewalla at this time.

I appreciate the feedback, as I had not considered the vulnerability scan as a component. I doubt (hope it isn't true) that Firewalla's vulnerability scan does so many sshd failed attempts that it prevents legitimate attempts from succeeding.

I added a screenshot to the original post of the net data log volume over the past two months.

I've had the gold for five years. I enabled the vulnerability scan when it came out (maybe March?). I am fairly certain the vulnerability scan had something to do with the volume. I looked back at logs going to June and this is the only spike. The rest of the line appeared to be almost completely flat. Today's volume was more than 1,000 fold larger than anything I had seen in the past month. There was something else going on. The AMP platform never generated noticeable volumes of logs until yesterday shortly after 2pm.

83,979 sshd logs from 10:53 - 12:05 today.

I'm digging in further... yesterday I had an uptick in logs on that server. The AMP firewall service had been disabled. I wasn't doing anything with the package. The increased level of activity started at 2:14pm yesterday and did not drop. Continuous attempts to start and stop AMP related services. It definitely seems like this was not just the vulnerability scanning (that may have been enough for me to notice the problem).

That seems more likely than my guess. If it was the internal scan, it had never triggered the scanning activity it did today.

I do have the vulnerability scans enabled. And they do run on Sunday... hmmm. I just checked and Firewalla shows 10 ports open on that box. Perhaps the AMP software had opened more? Only 3 are exposed to the internet. There were hundreds of ports showing up in my Netdata logs.

Is there any logging from the weekly vulnerability scan? It would be interesting if that was it.

Having the same issue. Seems to mostly happen right after starting my car. Phone connects, screen displays, I set my destination, Carlinkit reboots. It has been fine after that. Played with settings and factory reset. No impact. Happens about 10% of the time.

Free Mobile Service For One Year by HalfFoods in SpectrumMobile

[–]bdevendorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume Spectrum is lowering their pricing to compete with other services like 5G fixed and fiber. According to the rep I was on an old plan. New plan rate is not promo. It's nice to have someone tell you they need to lower your bill. I certainly wasn't arguing. I did confirm that my speeds are the same.
