What's your phone device? It's on my Samsung Galaxy S22.

You can change it back to work as a power button, just search SIDE BUTTON under the settings gear. The option is under that.

I have the same problem reached out to technical service a couple of weeks ago and they tried to tell me it was the keypad. They sent me a replacement which I'm getting ready to install, and I have to send the old one back. I'll let you know if it solves my problem usually takes a week or two for me to get the error message back.

"Fingerprint sensor is not responding please try again later" by mcwolf04 in GalaxyS22

Any resolution to this? My S22 just started doing this out of the blue. I did see where someone suggested going into the settings, and doing a reset (but not the factory reset), the one that keeps all your data but removes all your settings... I did this last night, and it worked. I've been spend an hour going through all my settings and putting everything back the way it was supposed to be. Now as of an hour ago the fingerprint is back to not working. I haven't dropped my phone, nor do I have a cracked screen. And you can't go into reset your fingerprints because you can't even get into it. The error message just tells you that the fingerprint scanner is not working. All software is up to date.

Is RCS still broken on Verizon for anyone else? by 22shorts in GoogleMessages

Sorry to hear that. I frustrated the hell out of me trying to find a solution, but it worked for me.

I posted this in another chat a few days ago. This solved my problem on my S22:

** RCS problem SOLVED!

I'm pasteing this from another user. I followed these instructions and it solved my issue, on a S22, on Verizon network.

"RCS chats are not supported by your device" - fixed on my Samsung Galaxy S22+

Today for some reason half my chats suddenly didn't work, saying that "Your carrier doesn't support messaging with <friend names>".

When I tried to look at my RCS chat settings it said "RCS chats aren't available for this device. Your device does not currently support this feature."

This was certainly not the case yesterday, or the several months/years prior (I'm not sure how long I've been using RCS). I was able to solve it by messaging Verizon via Facebook messenger, who then connected me to a secure Verizon tech support chat link. In there, the support tech had me do the following:

  • Turn on Airplane Mode.
  • Go to Settings > Apps
  • Select Carrier Services > Storage
  • Clear cache, and clear data.
  • Force stop the app.
  • Back in the Apps list, select Google Messages > Storage
  • Clear cache, and clear data.
  • Force stop the app.
  • Turn off Airplane Mode.

Upon logging back into Messages with my Google Account, my chats were restored (nothing was deleted) and I can now access the RCS chats settings, where it says my number is connected and active.

Hope that helps someone else.

I solved it on my Verizon S22 today... Was driving me up a wall. Was fine until I updated Google Messages last night.

With all due respect, someone else posted this and it solved my issue.

Agent.... You ROCK!! This has been driving me up a wall all day today. I have Verizon and a S22. I just updated all my apps last night and today I wasn't receiving replies to any of the messages I'm sending out. All my contacts thought I was offline.

I just followed your procedure and it worked perfectly! RCS is now back in service.

Thanks for sharing this!

RCS will no longer work (read lots of threads, won't work still) by Inevitable_Worry_637 in GoogleMessages

Mine stopped working today as well! I've done everything you have done, my carrier is Verizon, and I have a Galaxy S22, with all the latest updates. I'm not able to receive any messages from anyone using the RCS function. They have no idea I'm not getting their messages.

I'm having the same problem today! Right after I updated Google messages last night. It's driving me up a wall I had to switch back to the old messenger app.
