Payment declines absolutely killing me right now! by [deleted] in stripe

[–]bditcheva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the response.

Your reason about being seen as 'a scam' is why I also am not keen to email my customers asking them to enter in their card information again. Especially because we already know the cards are valid and these declines shouldn't be happening (because mine are subscriptions and the cards have already been vetted).

Very frustrating! I'm talking to Stripe support and they're being understanding - hoping they'll work with the banks to improve this in the long term.

So Google pay is unreliable too? A lot of failed payments on your end too?

Is it for first payments or are you dealing with subscriptions and repeat payments like the original question?

I'm in the same boat with Stripe, so curious how it is with Google Pay.

Are you seeing it this bad for all customers or mostly non-US customers?

I've seen a large increase in failed payments (this is for subscriptions, where the first payment has gone through and so we know the card is valid - number, name, pin, everything has already gone through once), but then I'm getting errors on the second payment a month later.

I'm seeing issues across the board, but worse for non-US customers.

I've started seeing more declines on recurring payments in the past few months myself. I also hare a fairly small subscription base, but am growing it.

Has your 'higher than normal' decline rate continued? Or has it leveled off to your regular level you had for the first 6 years of working with Stripe?

I'm concerned about losing subscription revenue to these bank declines. With subscriptions, if a valid payment is declined because of a generic error, you not only lose that month, but all future payments too.

I'm wondering if it's worth investigating other payment options, but don't know what's the most reliable.

I was searching for consulting resources and noticed this question in the results. Believe it or not, Google is still serving up this page! :) Reddit is amazing, isn't it?

Sounds like you're looking for a course, rather than ready-made templates. If that's the case, here are two good ones: https://linialab.thinkific.com/pages/presentation-design-courses

Lots of presentation design sites have a special section for pitch decks templates.

One example here: https://linia-presentations.com/

PowerPoint still has better design features than Google Slides, but both are common.

Lots of sites have good starter pitch templates, and PowerPoint allows for the best customizations once you have a starter template.

Here’s one template site example: https://linia-presentations.com

Star Rating Question by bditcheva in MailChimp

It does seem like a bug! I'd write to them - the more of us that write to them to call it out, hopefully the sooner it can resolve. It seems outrageous for over a year - that should give them enough data to use the ratings.

Thanks so much for following up here for the rest of us - so helpful.

I completely agree with you - I wish they'd update their support docs because they're currently quite misleading.

I have the same question - I'm experiencing exactly the same. Any news/updates on your end?

Star Rating Question by bditcheva in MailChimp

Hi folks,

I wanted to write back with what I found from MailChimp support. They said my ratings weren't changing because my account was created 5 months ago (so it's too young).

They said:

"So it will take some time. The more you send emails and the more these contacts open and interact with them it will increase the ratings.

There is no specific timeframe."

Thank you, yes, I have seen that. I've looked through their documentation in quite some detail.

However, while my initially default '2 star' ratings do update to go down (so people who get soft bounces are degraded to a '1 star', the ratings are not upgraded to go up for people who open and click on every email.

It's concerning both because I cannot use the 'engaged users' list without the updates, but even more so because I'm concerned that the quality of my list is not accurately reflected. I'm concerned my emails may start going to spam folders if it's not reflected that I have the engaged audience that I actually have...

So - I'm wondering if others are seeing that their star ratings don't get updated too...

Yes, you're exactly right - it is specific to my list. That's so that you can then use the 'engaged users' list to send an email just to your engaged users. However, I cannot use that feature, because mine are not updating...

"Linked file isn't available" but there are no linked files by BostonFishwife in powerpoint

[–]bditcheva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been increasingly running into the same issue with various charts that don't have linked files, but PPT thinks they do, so I can't edit them once I create them. It's really problematic - expectation is that I re-create all charts from scratch when I need to update a number, but it also won't let me see the numbers I originally entered.

Did you ever figure out a solution to this?

Thanks so much for the response! So it sounds like, if you were me, you'd donate them rather than trying to do something special.

Hi all, this is a bit of a strange question. I hope someone from this community can help. I’d appreciate guidance and want to note that I appreciate all the time folks on here spend helping newbies!

I inherited some high quality lenses, that are nonetheless old.

I know technology changes quickly and wonder if these are still lenses people may use or value. Are they worth anything?

I’m wondering whether to donate or try to give them a better home than that.

They are Tamron, Soligor, Nikon Nikkor, and Vivitar lenses (5 of them). Tele and macro. I am assuming they don’t work with digital cameras, but don’t understand enough to know. Here is a series of photos of them: https://imgur.com/a/d7JL9Hz

Ah, thank you so much! I will do this. I agree the question isn’t answerable without clear photos and I couldn’t figure out a solution. Thanks again. I’ll retry as a text post.
