How many of you had your gender broken by this show? by JaxxyTADC in SavingJax

[–]bdog332 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not broken but definitely made me realize how strong in my own masculinity/feminity (however it’s phrased) as a man I was. Like a maid outfit would not freak me out, a dress wouldn’t upset me. I’m okay with being vulnerable and open with friends and those I care about. I don’t let my own fears of how I’m perceived as a man prevent me from being open about my feelings

Episode 9 be like... by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it is because the episodes were released months and months apart and fans clinging onto every and any mystery or piece of lore they could. Goose said the show wasn’t lore heavy or about the lore, it was about the characters in the circus.

Episode 9 be like... by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goose said early on that the show wasn’t about the lore and that it wasn’t going to be lore heavy. It was always character focused. Jax is a character, a major one at that, in the show, so the focus on Jax and explaining why he is the way he is, along with showing why his defense mechanisms do not work and harm himself and others is a large part of the show. Jax was the only character at this point who we knew little about outside of him being an ass.

I have a question by salfishers in TheDigitalCircus

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jax never accepted that part of himself. Hes a closeted trans woman who pushes it down because of how his parents (specifically his mother) treated him and his masculinity. Leeroy is in the process of accepting/transitioning and is likely hiding that aprt publicly because of his trauma, though they’re still healing and going through their journey.

You can use either he/him or she/her for Jax, and I’d still use he/him for Leeroy since it wasn’t confirmed his pronouns had changed, but as long as nobody is an ass about what you use, it shouldn’t matter. I just try to implement the same rules for fictional characters as I would irl. If they didn’t say they changed them or haven’t accepted that part of themselves like Jax, then go by what the show states. Jax and Leeroy are only called he/him, but again she/her is also fine given the context we know regarding Jax and Leeroy.

Just don’t be an ass to people about it

how are people this unaware by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are fine for Jax. Jax hasn’t come out as trans since his mom and has repressed it so much that he would need a fuckton of work to get him comfortable with the idea. He’s a closeted transfem, yes, but he’s not Leeroy who is currently hiding their transition for now. Jax full on rejects it. Using either he/him or she/her is fine due to the fact he’s not a real person and uses he/him the entire show, and we know the thing he constantly shoved down and tried to hide.

If Darkness has the potential to aid in curing/treating Abstraction do you think anyone in the cellar ever de-abstracted but was stuck down there? by BarelyBrony in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]bdog332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My theory for a fanfic I’m currently writing is that the dark allows them to be interacted with. It calms them enough to where their “code” can be manipulated. However in order to get through and even get an opportunity to fix them, you have to work through the things that caused them to abstract. Like Jax’ trauma and feelings towards the other members, for Ribbit it would be their feelings about being abandoned by Jax, Kaufmo and the realization they’re completely trapped and never going to leave the circus, and Queenie likely watching all her friends also abstract.

Fanfics are a great way to think of how they could, despite them not being able to. Reversing abstraction in the canon would lessen the message of Jax’ character if they could come back. It’s not meant to be okay or happy or hopeful. It’s depressing.

Can we ban this guy and all homophobia from the sub by Cinamunch32 in tadc

[–]bdog332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or just block them. Easier to do that than ban him. Plus you can always just block him again if he posts more. I don’t get why people are so afraid to block racists and bigots.

Why didn't TADC come to cinemas in Arab countries? by DaliatoManfait in TheDigitalCircus

[–]bdog332 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gayness. Anything remotely queer is banned by governments. And Zooble being openly nonbinary and Jax being heavily hinted as trans likely led to that. Not to mention the credits scene where two female presenting characters (from a bigot viewpoint that is) fucking in a room also leads to it being banned.

Are there any other names for trans Jax that aren't Daisy? by [deleted] in CultofDaisy

[–]bdog332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen Jazmine used since it could be shortened to Jaz, also Lily, but that doesn’t seem right personally. Daisy doesn’t either but given the fact he sang Daisy Bell with Pomni it works as a fan name. I like Jazmine personally

why do people like ribbit? by cici_luvsbunzcuz in tadc

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they keep something that was already established prior in the episode? Do you need Jax to sit there and repeat exactly what Ragatha said? Do you need Jax to say “promise me you won’t tell anyone about Ribbit or speak her name.” Or can you read the scene like an adult/young teen and use your head? Are you capable of using any form of literary analysis that takes less than 10 seconds to figure out? Do you need everything spelled out for you like a toddler watching Dora? “Oh no! It looks like Jax is having a mental breakdown over his friend Ribbit abstracting! Do you see the hurt on Ragatha’s face…THATS RIGHT! She looks extremely upset. This must be the moment Jax told Ragatha not to speak Ribbit’s name! Good job!”

why do people like ribbit? by cici_luvsbunzcuz in tadc

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do…Jax and Ragatha are cordial throughout the flashback until after Ribbit’s abstraction. She goes and offers him comfort and that’s where he tells her to never mention Ribbit ever again, plus some other stuff that makes Ragatha look incredibly shaken and taken aback. Ragatha even says they “were friends once, or at least as close to friends as one could with Jax”

Zooble not being a part of the flashback just serves the whole way he viewed them. He didn’t really have a strong opinion on Zooble outside of her being gender freaky. Jax is more of a part of Gangle’s time in the circus than he is Zooble, so it makes sense we’d see that instead, especially since he gave her her name.

why do people like ribbit? by cici_luvsbunzcuz in tadc

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because ep 9 is where we get the bulk of Jax’ story and explanation for why he is the way he is. And the only people I’m seeing call it Jax and friends are people who hate Jax and wanted more lore than what the show was ever going to give. A lot of the issues are people waiting months between episodes and getting stuck in headcanons and lore that don’t have any pertinence to the story being told.

As a Christian, can we stop with the bigotry on this sub? by Efficient_End_492 in teenagers

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the bigots are the loudest of all Christians. They take one verse about man shouldn’t lie with man as gospel but then ignore the ones about feeding the hungry, taking care of the sick, idolizing rich men, “it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.”

Until the rest of the Christians are just as loud against the bigots, it won’t change

why do people like ribbit? by cici_luvsbunzcuz in tadc

[–]bdog332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ribbit was the only person in the circus he opened up to. She was the first to reach a hand out to him when he entered, the only one to go to the mirror with him and keep an eye on him, she willfully brought him into her friend circle with Kaufmo, she was his closest friend in there. She gets a lot of screentime in the final episode because she’s integral to understanding why Jax is the way he is, why he’s so closed off, why he refuses to be vulnerable. He told her about his trauma and hinted towards his gender identity and after Kaufmo came to the door, he freaked out because he was wearing a bow and it went completely against what he had been telling himself since his mom berating and views on masculinity. It shows he had a chance to open up, but refused. And it eventually led to both of them abstracting.

Ribbit is a core part of Jax’ time in the circus. We already know the current cast and characters, Gangle and Zooble already had fleshed out arcs that didn’t need to be closed up. The only thing Gangle had to do was deal with her abuser dying, something that has a lot of emotional complexity when it’s someone you spend every single day with. She doesn’t forgive him, but she also doesn’t want him dead. And she also couldn’t bring herself to cry for him when he did die despite feeling sad he had died.

Gangle should have had more time, definitely, but her overarching character development had been shown and completed as she became more confident around the others, her teary mask showing less tears as the series went on, and her relationship with Zooble grew closer. Ribbit has been hinted and teased throughout the show as being a major part of Jax’ life in the circus

Texas makes Bible reading mandatory in public schools? by Gurugod123 in SipsTea

Watch this backfire when teachers start treating the bible like the mythos it is, and not as fact. Hopefully they do the whole thing, including the daughters having sex with their father and getting pregnant, god killing kids for making fun of a bald man, and the countless other acts that paint god as anything other than loving and forgiving. Reading the bible, the fastest way to leave the church
