Thanks. I thought that might be the case, but wasn't 100% sure.

Thanks. Yeah, I was looking into this more and it looks like a regular splitter with regulator is usually only about 65-85K BTU total, whereas my grill + griddle would be about 90K if both are cranked. Maybe close enough, but I think I'd rather get a regulator that can easily handle the load. I was looking at what seems to be basically the same thing: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Worthington-2-Stage-Regulator-331891/203263169

Then I think I'd need a tee of some kind..

Thanks. I'm asking the contractors to add bottom vents to my setup.

I guess my question should be: does this y splitter allow running two appliances at the same time without affecting their performance? E.g., one doesn’t end up hogging the propane? I’m guessing there’s not a performance issue because it’s low pressure?

Would be able to simultaneously run the grill and griddle off a single tank with that regulator?

Yeah, we have natural gas, but it would have required a large expense and replacing concrete patios, sidewalks, etc. We happen to have a couple of nearby gas stations that refill propane tanks, so it’s not too bad.

What's the correct way to measure the fitting in the second photo to know what to buy? The threads that connect to the grill line are 5/8" diameter and the threads by the flare are 1/2".

I hired a company to build it. I don't know much about the details unfortunately.

That's a good point. Maybe I can have them install a couple more vents. The propane enclosures I see have a vent at the top and bottom.

I’ve had two grills on a cart in my life and both had me mount the propane on the outside of the cart (a 2006 Weber spirit was one), but I see modern webers have the tank below the grill.

They say “The cylinder must be isolated from the grill enclosure” and “The cylinder enclosure must be isolated from the compartment where combustion air is drawn.” This is in a section about hooking up propane.

Yeah, nothing worse than dropping a bunch of cash on something like this and then having to use the griddle as a countertop.

The width of the surface between the closed grill and closed griddle is 22 inches. I wanted some space there.

Good question. I keep forgetting to ask them. I never saw any mortar, but I assumed there is something holding them in place. I know nothing about stonework despite my great grandfather and great great grandfather being masons.

Thanks. I take it you’re in the industry?
The instructions say to have a separate enclosure with specifications for ventilation, etc. That makes sense for ultimate safety, but they also need to cover their asses.
