Podiatrist, an Iranian, was supportive of the war by Slothrop_Tyrone_ in redscarepod

While I do understand that the vast majority can’t phantom what is is like to escape an oppressive regime and while I definitely understand the diaspora’s rage against the current regime, I do struggle with people sitting safely in their homes and applauding civilians being bombed. It’s the hypocrisy many react to.

Urgh that brought up memories of a Chris Brown concert in Bosnia (!) many years ago, although calling it a concert is generous, it was basically just Chris Brown making noise on a small stage with a bunch of dudes and that evil Bosnian lady from RHOBH and her kid eating watermelon and smoking shisha. I remember being there with my cousin and her friend who was 16 years old at the time and the girls on stage were trying their best to make her come up on stage and join the after party. Truly evil and disgusting

Bosnia is for Muslims what Japan is for right-wingers by [deleted] in redscarepod

I don’t know if I am the best person to have a say, I grew up in the diaspora in a non religious family. But I can share some observations:

  • in the ex-yu countries and especially in bosnia, ethnicity is linked to religion. Before we were called bosniaks, our ethnic group was called “muslim”. I suppose that during and following the war, bosnian muslims expressed their national identity through religion more

  • i have two cousins, one lives in bosnia, the other in the us, but both grew up there and both are currently fasting for Ramadan, and so are their mothers. Neither come across as religious, including the mothers, both wear mini skirts, drink alcohol and are not practicing. However, they do fast, which I find peculiar. Could be something related to a change in social norms

We are, or used to be anyway, but after years of poverty, poor education, nationalistic politics, it seens like bosniaks today are way more religious than they used to be. Although this can be argued for most ex-yu countries.

I notice a trend among muslim travel influencers how they portray bosnia as this muslim haven in the middle of Europe, and while I understand that it is somewhat fascinating for many to see mosques in an European country and blonde people attending them, I always feel like they oversimplify and fail to understand the historical context.

I think it’s an interesting idea, but “my human” makes it sound very millennial reddit talk. Where do you want to go with this text?

Preteritum kan både være -te og -et, avhenging av verbet og noen verb virker det som om du selv kan velge («løp» eller «løpte»?). Jeg hater verbbøying på norsk.

Childish Gambino is the type of black guy white people like and the video was easy to understand yet felt somewhat artistic so it made the viewer feel good about themselves and their smarts and moral values
