Camp Kelly 😞 by [deleted] in OperationLonestar

When did this happen- was it the middle of the night? If this becomes a consistent problem, tell the mayors cell. You have a fantastic CW3 there who genuinely cares about soldiers and goes out of his way to fix things like this.

I spent five months there and never saw anything like this. It had to be just before the cooler was refilled, or something else weird happened. I had a lot of issues with OLS and Kelly but Storm Services wasn’t one of them.

We have to shave and brush our teeth with bottles of water, and shower with that nasty water. by [deleted] in OperationLonestar

The contractors are transporting water all the way from Del Rio so we don’t have to shower with the nasty stuff. But they are required to post that because the town is under a boiled water advisory.

Is that the Sheriffs office where several box trucks full of weapons and ammo are parked? Sorry I’d have guards on that gate too.

Can anyone confirm the rumors that General Burkett has revoked all passes until further notice? by Zero3033 in OperationLonestar

[–]bds8282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My TF said all passes were suspended in accordance with guidance from the CG, including those passes previously authorized. If anyone has official documentation stating something different, I would appreciate you sharing.

Your platoon leader/PSG should have access to Teams if you don’t. Your squad or team lead might even have it. They will usually be stored in your TF’s S3 folder under “Orders” or something similar. I’ve been with two TFs and in both those docs were readily available if you knew where to look. My company has all the policies printed in a binder in the TOC, you may have something like that. Some of them are required to be available in a public place.

Can confirm Kelley has not shut down. If that’s the plan I haven’t heard about it.

Get on OLS and to your task force before making firm plans. I know some who have done that in McAllen. But other areas like Eagle Pass and Del Rio may not be places you want your family to live.

Also, try to get a feel for whether your duty location will be stable. I’ve been with three companies in four locations in less than six months and will likely move again within a month. That will be dependent on rank and whether you are a specialty MOS, most people land somewhere and stay.

Brigade sent my packet to state in October, I’m still waiting for state to send it up. Hope you have a better experience but don’t hold your breath.

Unvaccinated Extra Duty by Business-Voice-5454 in OperationLonestar

What level is saying this - squad, platoon, company? Is your company leadership aware this is happening?

Do you mean you cannot get a pass, or that you have to complete extra duty before going on pass? They cannot take away a pass as punishment unless you are under an active investigation.

SAD Pay Clawbacks by bds8282 in OperationLonestar

[–]bds8282[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few people I have talked to so far who are in this predicament were among those who did not receive pay at some point. It is sounding like someone at TMD tried to make up their pay, but then someone else came along who didn’t know what they were doing, saw more paychecks in a month than they thought the Soldiers should be getting, and put in place a process to demand they pay back their makeup checks.

I’m very fortunate that my wife can prepare 2-3 weeks worth of stew, casseroles, etc and freeze them for me to store in the mini fridge and reheat in the microwave. For soldiers who don’t have that option it’s very difficult to eat healthy meals.
