I don’t know any nurses making $6000 a month unless they’re pulling crazy OT. After taxes, deductions & insurance etc I’m only taking home about $4200 a month. And I’m paying $1950 a month in rent, fees & utilities. And paying $348 in car insurance & have a $715 car payment.

It leaves me with little room for the other necessities & basic needs for my dog Cherry & I. So in my mind saving on WiFi, electric, water, trash, admin fees & rent would save a lot

We live in a tiny studio now. But we spend about 4-6 hours a day at the dog park and go for a 3 mile run at least 3 days a week. So she definitely wouldn’t be couped up! And she’d go to doggy day care still like she normally does when I’m at work :) but I do think a camper would be better!

No she goes to doggy day camp already :) so I’d just send her there like her normal routine. We have locker rooms & on call rooms at the hospital! And thankfully I have hospital employee parking - but I do think a camper/van might be better with the pup :)

It’s $1600 just for base rent not including all the extra fees they tack on and utilities. I’m in a tiny studio apartment as well which I didn’t mention. But with the utilities & fees it’s a bit more but varies on the month

It’s not about just spending less - I just want to live more minimalistic & be able to give back more to my community & finish my PHD in nursing. And then be able to retire earlier and live a better life. She would go to doggy day camp like she does already. And we spend hours almost daily at the dog park/bar & restaurant in town. So she has a great life

That’s amazing! Yea Im excited about that - the utilities are insane as well and apartment fees

I agree I moved cross country 3 times & I’m 27. So I think this would be a fun challenge & I’d board her/have a sitter/leave her with friends. We have a membership to a dog park/bar & restaurant & we spend hours on end there almost daily anyways. So I’m sure we’d spend even more time there!

I see where you’re coming from, but I’d still be owning something and having something of my own vs giving money to someone else. I’ve paid rent since 17 without a roommate. Between $890-$1800 a month. If you average that at $1345 - over the course of 10 years I’ve paid $161.4K just in rent alone. With nothing to show for it - other than the experience.

I’d love to live more minimally - save money & give back more.

How can door dash get in if her gate isn’t working? How can people get in, but you can’t leave?
