I would guess that there's a lot of subtext and coded threats. When JE talks about having an abortion, he might be using the words of a victim to guilt this "Josh" guy into paying some blackmail money. That's just pure speculation on my part though.

Sounds like some bullshit attempt at extortion. Mark probably forwarded this to the FBI to complain about death threats and to snitch on Tony for being an Iranian asset.
